It's even worse for the bats--killed by the millions--in that they are very long-lived and don't reproduce frequently and thus are subject to having entire species wiped out. The "wildlife conservation" water-melons? *Crickets*...
I've been seeing the same thing with bats in Pennsylvania where I have family that tracks the condition of the bats very carefully. They are almost entirely gone in central Pennsylvania although they didn't start getting a handle on why until sometime last year. Not a peep out of any of the usual sources.
