Now is the time and here is the place.

If you are a white male you have undeniably been victimized by the casual racist, misandry, bigoted and sexist policies enacted by every layer of government in this country and in most of the fields of academic and business endeavor. Your input or participation is openly scorned and forbidden by official representatives of the government and the various colleges, universities and business and NGO's that do business in the United States.

The Democrats are not the only organization that openly discriminates in the most blatant and openly officious manner possible while expecting to get away with it like they're the incarnation of Roman Polanski or Harvey Weinstein and free to screw over white men with nary a hint of guilt, remorse or even a troubled conscience. They're like sharks.

In all honesty, just about every organization in America that hires or fires people tends to obsess first over the race and then the sex and ethnicity of their employees. Now the shoe is pinching the other foot. Just think of the fun you can have by using some of the enormous number of tools at your disposal such as nolo.com and cheaply and easily filing suits in the federal courts and with the EEOC. Hours of fun and making your leisure time productive, all while working at home!

Remember, if you don't exercise your federal rights they get all flabby and unsightly, so file early and file often!

Power to the People!

The morons in charge of the episcopal church in Alexandria attended by our first President who was a member for over 20 years and to which he repaired every Sunday when he was in residence at Mount Vernon, have decided to throw out the plaque on their wall honoring his memory. They claim to have acted so because they are afraid slaves will object to honoring the Father of our Country because, slaves are like that. Evidently, you can take the man out of chains but you cannot take the slave out of the man, or some sort of gibberish like that was their apparent reason for acting like knaves and degenerates afraid of their shadows.

Plaque tossed by Episcopal Church in Alexandria
President George Washington visited the first synagogue in the New World a long time ago. There is a special plaque to commemorate his visit to the Touro Synagogue which visitors can see when they visit. Somehow I doubt that they plan to remove or hide the plaque out of some idiotic sympathy for ignorant idiots who prattle on about history and yet retain a massive ignorance of the subject. The tour guide, as is usual with tour guides showing off a building or domicile that Washington visited or spent the night in, was delighted to show us this plaque and other objects from Washington's visit there.

The bigots in America would see this torn from the wall because George Washington

Oldest Synagogue in America

Washington's letter to the synagogue after the visit included, "The Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens in giving it on all occasions their effectual support."

The Little Lickspittles of the Episcopal Church are Invited to Hide This George Washington Commemorative!

UPDATE: It's easy to see why the Episcopal Church threw George Washington under the bus. You might have known it would be that easy. I wonder when they're planning to throw out Jesus Christ for being a man, semi-divine and the son of God. With them, it's just a matter of time and most of their peers are equally barking mad.

The words are from a splash of truth found at Breitbart in an article detailing some of the lengths to which some people of the right went in order to foil the idiotic protest of the Trump haters. I used to think that Bush Derangement Syndrome would/could never be matched and yet these new haters proved me wrong.
“But he is protesting a man that has traded a lavish billionaire lifestyle to try and fix the train wreck that has been building over the last 16 years. Just to have his whole family ridiculed. Made fun of. Called liars. Racists.”

When you look at President Trump in that light it's not hard to see why he really enjoys taking the time to mock the pathetic losers and shoot rockets up their asses with his tweets. He has it on solid evidence that doing this can make the heads of those haters literally explode. God only knows how many have stroked out or died of hate-fueled heart attacks in reaction to President Trump gently letting them know what contemptible little rats they are.

I have enjoyed President Trump's tussling with the usual crew of incompetents and idiots who let Jimmy Carter dictate our strategic policy and sent him to North Korea "to negotiate" a final solution to the issue of Nork nuclear weapons. I admire Trump for probably ordering the SS to shoot Carter if he gets on any international flight and revoked his passport in order to keep that simple chump from jetting off to Pyongyang and patting the newest ruler of the People's Democratic Republic of Korea on the head for cheerfully accepting $5,000,000,000 in direct cash assistance from us for a promise to do a better job of concealing his weapons of mass destruction programs and not letting the idiots at the New York Times find out that Carter's fumbling ambitions have once again resulted in a strategic catastrophe on a par with the Fall of the Shah and the Rise of Islamic Fascist State of Iran.

I just like this picture. Other people might put up a post about their new Subaru and how they felt the need for a little road trip to test it out, but not me. After all, it's not my Subaru, but should the DMV be wanting to have a quick word with the person who registered it yesterday and call, they'd be talking to me. I gave them my number.

Lake Saint Clair Never Looked Like This, Ever

The dude at Maggies Farm makes some excellent points. I am guilty of hasty writing and indeed I make some of the mistakes due to carelessness not because I'm fu$Cing stupid. I just type too fast and my brain can't keep up with my flying fingers of prose.

Still, it's a nice cup. I should get one but I don't kneed one.

It appears that the House is finally ready to man up and investigate the Hillary and Bill Clinton Corruption Foundation with a special focus on the Uranium fleecing of America.

All I can say is that it's about time those dummies started to get to work on the issues that they were elected to carry out in the People's Name.

Who didn't think this was how Fusion GPS was funded and pointed in the proper direction?

It's exactly like all the out and out fascism going on, it's all being carried out by the militant left who have all agreed that nobody but them have any rights at all and certainly don't deserve any consideration. They're also the ones that tend to find threatening bananas, slippery dangerous looking bits of loose string and other imminent signs of a klan lynching in action. It's the new String Theory of Violent fASScism and its found on just about every liberal progressive college campus in America.

said the main-stream news expert on firearms. Srsly, they have powers of observation frequently observed in blades of grass. One has to wonder if they ever report anything factual, truthful or honest. All of them somehow failed to notice that Hollywood is run by powerful men who hold the power of fame and stardom in their pants and have never done anything but gush about the bare minimum actresses adorn themselves with clotheswise while carefully never mentioning how the rich and powerful moguls always seem to have some young starlet on their arm at all those Hollywood self-congratulatory celebrations where they give each other prizes for some fairly dismal performances.

Wouldn't you think there would be some years in the history books where they got together and decided absolutely nothing at all that year measured up to the standards set by winning films and artists in previous years? Yeah, it would never occur to them to wonder. They lost their sense of wonder the first time somebody took them aside to explain why that actress kept saying such nice things about that producer even though it was widely known that he was a rapist.

I see Mark Steyn in now enjoying his sixth year with the DC Courts as he waits for them to get moving on the case launched against him by that titan of mistruth and misdirection, Mann. I don't know that the wheels of justice turn at all anymore in this country unless they are well lubricated with the blood of innocent, but poverty stricken defendants, who could not get out of the way fast enough when the law came knocking.

Watching the dismal show of some of the most venal self-serving chief lawmen to ever live in this country while they "investigate" Russian collusion with the Trump campaign even though they winked at and totally ignored the total corruption of the democrats and the Clintons in the Uranium fiasco is getting hard to tolerate anymore. I think Comey, Mueller, Rosenstein and all their loyal assistants need to be rounded up and confined for a very long time for fraud and abuse of a public animal. God knows they've disgraced the donkey that hired them and they are totally failing to kick the ass they're investigating. What a pathetic herd of scum.

We used to be better than this.

I daresay most of you have noticed that the picture above contains no shotguns. Or, as CBS would have it, 'it's clearly a bolt action automatic shotgun.'

Every now and then I run across the tatters of the old universe and it strikes a chord. Today I read that some Congressional democrats have declared that hi-capacity magazines kill people. I was touched by their concern and their obvious intelligence as they quickly concluded that the best way to save lives is to banish hi-capacity magazines because that's what they do. In the same vein, they might consider liquidating everyone over the age of 18 since older people do most of the killing.

In a similar vein, I ran across the People's Radio today and their show with Mike, the AG from Mississippi, a state that would otherwise never trouble to pass the lips or indeed the thoughts of a true liberal progressive democrat so lost to modern democracy is it that even the cows reliably vote rethuglican. Mike, the guy who was the very first to launch the anti-smoking campaign, sued big tobacco and won, sort of. Instead of outright declaring tobacco illegal like everything else, the government and the lawyers decided to milk it for the money that was in selling a product to the addicted. They are no different from pushers. They'll use the revenues for good, they said.

Mike has a new campaign and is launching a war on the makers of pain medication and doctors who write prescriptions for people in serious pain. Mike thinks we can make opioids just as safe and legal and rare as abortion, or something like that. Man sounded like a complete lunatic as he declared war on the number one, in big pharma, to make and market Oxycontin and who now sells a whopping 2% of the total number sold. Mike is devoted to ending the opioid epidemic-in which ruthless bloodsuckers and their lawyers make a sort of opioid, add lethal amounts of fentanyl and sell it to poor white trash too stupid and ignorant to know that it's going to kill them.

Amazingly, no addict can even tell if what he's injecting is the lethal drug on the right or the drug on the left

I was left to wonder why nobody made the observation that it wasn't the doctors or the drug companies that were selling the illegal crap, it was real scum of the earth types that the liberal progressives are busting their humps to let out of jail and never send to jail because there's nothing wrong with selling drugs and we should just legalize them and let the sellers sell what the want or what they can make.

I have several problems with all that. When government gets involved and things promptly go in the sewer or, as in Flint, in the potable water, nobody is ever held accountable. Let's just look at the Federal assault on a religious sect in Waco all those years ago. Biggest mass killing in America since the Indian Wars and yet nobody was punished or found at fault or fired or anything. Ditto the EPA fiasco where they blew a hole in a cofferdam and killed a river. Nobody was fired or disciplined or punished. Look at AMTRAK. They sell burgers at $10.00 a pop and still lose $10,000,000,000. There is now loose talk about creating a non-profit like AMTRAK to take over the running, staffing and management of the US Air Traffic Control System. That's right you are thinking, you're gonna work out some other way to get there rather than fly.

I really don't think we can afford to let these idiots mess with our water, our energy, our vital fluids, our drugs or our air traffic control. At any rate, as I thought about the ridiculous depths of this day I was reminded of that great radio show and yes! They are talking about making a 6th radio episode with the original cast back as Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect and Zaphod Beeblebrox. I'm not sure about Trillian.

Cast your minds into the past and read:

’The Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’ has this to say about the planet of Golgafrincham: It is a planet with an ancient and mysterious history, in which the most mysterious figures of all are, without doubt, those of the Great Circling poets of Arium. These Circling Poets used to live in remote mountain passes where they would lie and wait for small bands of unwary travellers, circle round them, and throw rocks at them. And when the travellers cried out saying ‘why didn’t they go away and get on with writing some poems instead of pestering people with all this rock-throwing business,’ they would suddenly break off and sing them an incredibly long and beautiful song - in which they told of how there once went forth, from the City of Vassillian, a party of five sage princes with four horses. The first part of the song tells how these five sage princes - who are, of course, brave, noble, and wise - travel widely in distant lands, fight giant ogres, pursue exotic philosophies, take tea with weird gods, and rescue beautiful monsters from ravening princesses, before finally announcing that they have achieved enlightenment and that their wanderings are therefore accomplished. The second, and much longer part, tells of all their bickerings about which one of them is going to have to walk back. It was, of course, a descendent of these eccentric poets who invented this curious tale of impending doom which enabled the people of Golgafrincham to rid themselves of an entire useless third of their population. The other two-thirds, of course, stayed at home and lived full, rich, and happy lives until they were all suddenly wiped out by a virulent disease contracted from a dirty telephone. Meanwhile, Arthur Dent, Ford Prefect, and an Ark-load of frozen middle management men have crashed into the prehistoric dawn of a small, blue-green planet circling an unregarded yellow sun at the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral Arm of the Galaxy. After a year or so they convene a meeting to consider their position, which is not, on the whole, good…

Listen! I would like to call to order the five-hundred-and-seventy-third meeting of the colonization committee of the planet of Fintlewoodlewix. And furthermore -

Oh this is futile! Five-hundred-and-seventy-three committee meetings and you haven’t even discovered fire yet!

If you would care to look at the agenda sheet -

Agenda rock, yes…

Oh, go on back home or something will ya?

…you will see that we are about to have a report from the hairdressers fire development subcommittee today.

That’s me.

Yeah well you know what they’ve done don’t you? You gave them a couple of sticks and they’ve gone and developed them in to a pair of bloody scissors!

When you have been in marketing as long as I have, you’ll know that before any new product can be developed, it has to be properly researched. I mean yes, yes we’ve got to find out what people want from fire, I mean how do they relate to it, the image -

Oh, stick it up your nose.

Yes which is precisely the sort of thing we need to know, I mean do people want fire that can be fitted nasally.

Yes, and, and, and the wheel. What about this wheel thingy? Sounds a terribly interesting project to me.

Er, yeah, well we’re having a little, er, difficulty here…

Difficulty?! It’s the single simplest machine in the entire universe!

Well alright mister wise guy, if you’re so clever you tell us what colour it should be!

Oh Mighty Zarquon! Has no-one done anything?

And of course Finlon the producer has rescued a camera from the wreckage of the ship and is making a fascinating documentary on the indigenous cavemen of the area.

Oh yes, and they’re dying out, have you noticed that?

Yes we must make a note sir to stop selling them life insurance.

But don’t you understand? Just since we’ve arrived they’ve started dying out.

Yes! Yes! And this comes over terribly well in the film that he’s making. I gather that he wants to, eh, make a documentary about you next captain.

What? Oh. Oh really? That’s awfully nice.

Oh, he’s got a very strong angle on it: you know the burden of responsibility, the loneliness of command…

Ah well I wouldn’t overstress that angle you know, I mean one’s never alone with a rubber duck…

Er, sir, er, skipper?

Want a squeeze, eh?

Um listen, if we could, er, for a moment move on to the subject of fiscal policy -

”Fiscal Policy”?!

How can you have money if none of you actually produce anything? It doesn’t grow on trees you know!

You know If you would allow me to continue!

Yes let him to continue.

Since we decided a few weeks ago to adopt leaves as legal tender, we have, of course all become immensely rich.

No really? Really?

Yes, very good move…

But, we have also run into a small inflation problem on account of the high level of leaf availability. Which means that I gather the current going rate has something like three major deciduous forests buying one ship’s peanut. So, um, in order to obviate this problem and effectively revalue the leaf, we are about to embark on an extensive defoliation campaign, and um, burn down all the forests. I think that’s a sensible move don’t you?

That makes economic sense.

[Murmurs of agreement from crowd]

[Yells] You’re absolutely barmy! You’ve a bunch of raving nutters!

When Will They Learn? Who Will Tell Teach Them?

Monday, October 16, 2017

I read the Sunday New York Times, well, glance at it. I was amazed to find that the Book Review started out with a review of Ron Chernow's book, Grant and authored by no less than Bill Clinton. It appeared to be a fairly good review of the book and showed some familiarity with both Grant and what Chernow wrote. For those unfamiliar the New York Times Book Review, actually reading or skimming the reviewed book is done far less often than you might think and many of the reviewers just make stuff up or go with what they think they know about the subject at hand.

I did like one of the photographs included with the review. God only knows where it came from but see for yourself.

The unidentified men are clearly Russians. Who else hangs out with republicans?

I found that Grant in his own words was a good start to finding out more about the man. You can download his autobiography at: gutenberg press.

From a network not exactly known for being able to find or tell the truth comes something profound and something that bears thinking about as we move towards renewed conflicts around the planet. You might have seen it around.

It is not often you get the chance to meet a man who holds a place in history like Ben Ferencz.  He’s 97 years old, barely 5 feet tall, and he served as prosecutor of what’s been called the biggest murder trial ever. The courtroom was Nuremberg; the crime, genocide; the defendants, a group of German SS officers accused of committing the largest number of Nazi killings outside the concentration camps – more than a million men, women, and children shot down in their own towns and villages in cold blood.

Ferencz is the last Nuremberg prosecutor alive today. But he isn’t content just to be part of 20th century history – he believes he has something important to offer the world right now.

Lesley Stahl: What turns a man into a savage beast like that?

Benjamin Ferencz: He’s not a savage. He’s an intelligent, patriotic human being.

Lesley Stahl: He’s a savage when he does the murder though.

Benjamin Ferencz: No. He’s a patriotic human being acting in the interest of his country, in his mind.

Lesley Stahl: You don’t think they turn into savages even for the act?

Benjamin Ferencz: Do you think the man who dropped the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima was a savage? Now I will tell you something very profound, which I have learned after many years. War makes murderers out of otherwise decent people. All wars, and all decent people.

I was no more than a boy when I first read Bing West's book, The Village. My father was stationed at Fort Riley with the 1st Infantry Division and so was the family. I found the book at the main post library where I spent a lot of time reading everything there was to read. I was a voracious reader. The little girl next to me was an equally voracious reader and became a famous writer. So anyway, the post library had a copy or two of Bing West's book and I read it at a tender age. It stuck with me over all these years. I read his other books as they were published.

A Couple of Book Worms Caught in the Act at the Library in Fort Riley

He can put the reader into the moment which is a worthy quality in a good writer. He captures the essence of the real meaning of the Vietnam War in this essay from the Hoover Institute. It's not long and you should read it all because he describes his reaction to Ken Burns' newest propaganda piece broadcasting now on the Peoples Broadcast Network.
The purpose of a film, however, is to stir emotions, not to convey a reasoned analysis. In emotive power, Burns succeeds. An audience with no prior knowledge of Vietnam will come away convinced this war was a colossal geopolitical error, a waste of lives on all sides and absolutely without redemption. Every fact and picture is accurate, and the cumulative process of selecting some facts and omitting others is devastating.
Burns forsook balance. For instance, my Combined Action Platoon (CAP) consisting of 15 Marines and 30 armed farmers lived for 488 days in a remote village of 5,000 Vietnamese. The two Marines who didn’t fit in were dismissed from the CAP. The rest of us slept in the houses of the villagers, ate their food, fought and died side by side with the farmers. Seven of fifteen Marines were killed in the village.
American combat troops withdrew from the country in 1972. At that time, North Vietnamese units were still positioned in the jungles of South Vietnam. They had suffered staggering losses months earlier in a major assault that had failed after America had unleashed its B-52s to pound the enemy on the battlefield and in Hanoi. As the documentary points out, 100,000 North Vietnamese soldiers were estimated to have been killed, nearly all the armor provided by the Soviet Union had been destroyed and the North Vietnamese chief of staff warned another offensive could not be mounted for at least three years.3 The North agreed to a ceasefire and a truce that included the return of American prisoners of war. President Nixon promised to respond with force if the North attacked again.
Instead, U.S. Congressional legislation in mid-1973 cut off funds for combat “in or over or from off the shores of North Vietnam, South Vietnam, Laos or Cambodia.” The intent was to prevent President Nixon from deploying troops, naval gunfire or aerial bombing if the North Vietnamese persisted in attacking South Vietnam. Over the next two years, Chinese artillery and Soviet tanks poured into Hanoi. While we had promised to provide aid to the South Vietnamese, Congress instead cut our aid of $2.8 billion in 1973 down to $1 billion in 1974 and to $300 million in 1975. When the North Vietnamese attacked in 1975, the South Vietnamese forces ran out of bullets. America had quit, plain and simple.
What, then, should be the peroration for the war? Should it be the Burns’ documentary, “The Vietnam War was a tragedy, immeasurable and irredeemable.”
Or should it be what Secretary of Defense Schlesinger wrote to our two million troops, “Your cause was noble; your dedication was determined. You answered your country’s call.”
I don't think it will be long before Ken Burns turns his eye toward Afghanistan and Iraq and pulls up the poisoned history lens version of ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM. At this point I'm prepared to say that all of our ambitions in both places have failed and that none of our hopes have been realized, either in the conquest or the nation building aftermath in either country. Sixteen years of noble sacrifice and we have nothing at all to show for it but the explosion of the Taliban's jihad as it spread out and started attacking the 20th century and Western Civilization everywhere in the world.

A number of Americans have been evacuated, again, from Cuba. Americans working in our embassy there have been suffering from some sort of acoustic attack directed at both the embassy and specific workers there. The State Department professes profound cluelessness about how their people were deafened or attacked in Cuba.

Here's a clue.

Back when I was working at Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in San Diego, I went to LRAD's offices and we got a pretty good demo when they first went  public with their system which they proposed as a form of area denial non-lethal weapon. The sound is projected from the dish and while it is not as focused as a laser beam, it is channelled and remarkably loud at enormous ranges. We were looking at using them later for venue security at the Greek Olympics and set up a couple in our offices in Old Town. It's a pretty cool system and I don't see why it wouldn't work above the audible frequencies we can hear and still create considerable damage to the ear and nervous system.

Long Range Acoustic Device (LRAD) For Police Crowd Control
  1. Highly intelligible communication up to 3,000 meters
  2. Safely communicates beyond standoff distances to determine intent
  3. Variable beam width for extended coverage
  4. Clear, long range, directional communication
  5. Establishes instant acoustic standoff perimeter

I am copying and pasting some information from the market-ticker.org. The author has looked at the actual timeline of the attack using information from both police and non-police sources. With as much backing up and restating and qualifying and frankly, lying, I thought it was worth describing the issues some people have with the police lack of response to the killer who they knew was in that hotel room shooting at a huge crowd of innocent people for over an hour.
At 9:59 p.m., Campos (e.d. The unarmed security guard above) was shot in the leg after Paddock fired 200 shots into the hallway. Paddock began shooting into the crowd six minutes later, contradicting original reports that Campos’ arrival is what stopped Paddock’s mass shooting.
Between the time that Campos was shot and Paddock began shooting, Campos notified authorities of what happened, which Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Undersheriff Kevin McMahill said Friday was “absolutely critical” as it gave police Paddock’s exact location.
**** you Kevin McMahill.  Your ******n department is directly responsible for the deaths of these people because your officers are cowards.
Those primped-up clowns up-armored, up-armed and then sat in the ****ing stairway for over an hour despite knowing this dickhead was loaded up and actively shooting innocent, unarmed and defenseless civilians from above.
The cops sat on their asses while the gunman shot and killed all the people in the crowd despite having every ability to stop it before it ever happened while knowing exactly where he was.
When these cowards finally blew the door open to the suite the shooter had ceased shooting (presumed dead of a self-inflicted gunshot) for roughly an hour.  Their "action" consisted of showing up to mop up his blood and sweep up his cartridges.  They saved exactly zero lives and took exactly zero effective actions to end or otherwise limit the assault.  They might have actually saved at least one life if they had gone into the crowd and attempted to stabilize those who had been shot rather than prance around in their body armor and play TV-style SWAT.
LET ME SAY IT AGAIN IN CASE YOU MISSED IT THE FIRST TIME: The effective actions of the police with regard to stopping the jackass during this incident number an exact zero.  They are ALL outrageously arrogant, cowardly *******s in that they posed for photos instead of apologizing and offering to resign for their utter failure to do one single effective thing with all the money, equipment and alleged "training" the people of Las Vegas and the State of Nevada have showered upon them in anticipation of exactly this sort of event.  The onlything those ****heads cared about was getting their ******n pension and every penny of it should be forfeit along with their job -- right damn now.  These rat bastards shouldn't be able to show their faces in public ever again without seeing the bird. The lies being accepted by the media are even more-outrageous.
It really is incumbent on the police to stop making shit up and publish the true facts about the shooting and the police failure to respond in any way to the shooting for over an hour. With all the 'changes' they keep putting forward it is really unbelievable that they cannot establish an incident timeline simply using the phone calls to 911 and the recorded police actions and publish it and stand by their timeline backing it up with evidence when people (conspiracy types) start to ask questions about just why the LVPD did nothing during this attack.

This is the date that the USN claims for it's creation. It's a little far from the truth since one of the first things the Continental Congress did at the conclusion of the Revolutionary War was toss what was left of the Navy over the side. Let us turn to Infogalactic for a brief history lesson on the U.S. Navy.
In August 1785, after the Revolutionary War drew to a close, Congress had sold Alliance, the last ship remaining in the Continental Navy due to a lack of funds to maintain the ship or support a navy. From then until 1797, the United States' only armed maritime service was the Revenue Marine, founded in 1790 at the prompting of Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton. In the same year, 1785, two American merchant ships had been captured by Algiers and then Minister to France Thomas Jefferson began to urge the need for an American naval force to protect their passage through the Mediterranean. Jefferson's recommendations were initially met with indifference. However, Congress in 1786, and the Senate in 1791, discussed various proposals for a naval force, including estimates of costs for building frigates, but none were acted upon. Only in 1793 when Algiers had captured eleven additional merchant ships was a proposal finally taken seriously.
A bill was presented to the House of Representatives on January 20, 1794, providing for the construction of four ships to carry forty-four guns each, and two ships to carry thirty-six guns each — by purchase or otherwise. The bill also provided pay and sustenance for naval officers and sailors and outlined how each ship should be manned in order to operate them. Opposition to the bill was strong and a clause was added that should peace be established with Algiers the construction of the ships was to cease.
Piracy had not been a problem when the American colonies were a part of the British Empire; the Royal Navy protected American vessels, since they belonged to subjects of the British Crown. After the American Revolutionary War, however, that protection was lost, and many foreign powers found that they could harass American merchant ships with impunity. Indeed, once the French Revolution started, Britain also started interdicting American merchant ships and there was little the fledgling American government could do about it. This was a major philosophical shift for the young Republic, many of whose leaders felt that a Navy would be too expensive to raise and maintain, too imperialistic, and would unnecessarily provoke the European powers. In the end, however, it was felt necessary to protect American interests at sea.
In March 1796, as construction of the frigates slowly progressed, a peace accord was announced between the United States and Algiers. In accordance with clause nine of the Naval Act of 1794, a clause that specifically directed that construction of the frigates be discontinued if peace was established, construction on all six ships was halted. After some debate and prompting by President Washington, Congress passed an act on 20 April 1796 allowing the construction and funding to continue only on the three ships nearest to completion: United States,[7] Constellation[8] and Constitution.
By late 1798 however, France began to seize American merchant vessels and the attempt at a diplomatic resolution had resulted in the XYZ Affair, prompting Congress to approve funds for completion of the remaining three frigates: President, Congress and Chesapeake.
Over the next 20 years, the Navy fought the French Navy in the Quasi-War (1798–99), Barbary states in the First and Second Barbary Wars, and the British in the War of 1812. After the War of 1812, the U.S. Navy was at peace until the Mexican–American War in 1846, and served to combat piracy in the Mediterranean and Caribbean seas, as well fighting the slave trade. In 1845, the Naval Academy was founded. In 1861, the American Civil War began and the U.S. Navy fought the small Confederate Navy with both sailing ships and ironclad ships while forming a blockade that shut down the Confederacy's civilian shipping. After the Civil war, most of the its ships were laid up in reserve, and by 1878, the Navy was just 6,000 men.
The U.S. Coast Guard claims to be the oldest floating nautical service of the United States since they slowly amalgamated the various life-saving and revenue cutters and then the lighthouses and all the rest of the things they do so well on a shoestring budget.

As you can see from reading the above, once we had an actual Navy the temptation to use it proved irresistible and use it we did. The United States Marine Corps may well quibble with the notion that the USCG is the oldest nautical service since there is some quaint notion that passengers can be nautical if they want to be provided they are embarked on some sort of floating contraption. The Marines have been around since 1775.

However, it is good and proper to celebrate even the temporary establishment of a naval service at any point in the past and this calls for a Party! On the other hand, think where we'd be on the Jones Act if our gutless Congress still issued letters of Marque and Reprisal and let privateers sweep the oceans for prizes. They'd have a hasty way with mere pirates and soon that scourge would be driven from the worlds oceans and seven seas leaving plenty of opportunity for riches and advancement in America's Privateer Fleets.

Ripped off at Traditional Vibe.

The left has pretty much destroyed any value their children might have ever seen in the United States. As they waged that campaign on their own children, they took over education at every level in this country and used the power of the rod to teach all of our children that there is nothing good, worthy or noble about the United States of America.

What passes for education in this country was rightly called a crime by the educators that got shoved out to make way for the progressives who took control of education at the local, state and federal level and used their control to strike the children with the bleakest and foulest interpretations of every historic thing that has ever happened and to blame every less than perfect outcome or event (in 21st century interpretation only) on white people, colonialism and slavery.

Glenn Seaborg and the National Commission on Excellence in Education issued their report back in 1983. Titled, "A Nation At Risk" it described for Americans what was visibly happening to the education system in this country.
Our Nation is at risk. Our once unchallenged preeminence in commerce, industry, science and technological innovation is being overtaken by competitors throughout the world.... the educational foundations of our society are presently being eroded by a rising tide of mediocrity that threatens our very future as a Nation and as a people. What was unimaginable a generation ago has begun to occur- others are matching and surpassing our educational attainments.
If an unfriendly foreign power had attempted to impose on America the mediocre educational performance that exists today, we might well have viewed it as an act of war. As it stands, we have allowed this to happen to ourselves.... We have, in effect, been committing an act of unthinking, unilateral educational disarmament.
It almost defies belief that education in this country has only gotten worse, much worse in the 34 years since the report was published. Education in this country is pushed to the lowest common denominator and the professional educator class and Courts have done everything in their power to push that denominator to the lowest achievable level.

Spend even a few minutes reading about mainstreaming and it will poison your attitude with regard to professional educators beyond any hope of recovery. They throw out the needs of the many in order to provide for the needs of the most damaged individual.  As you can see if you go to the links in this paragraph, I used the New York Times as a reference.

I used to read the NYT every Sunday and their articles on the perilous state of teaching in America made for some interesting reading. It is the sole topic I have ever seen in the NYT where they threw lib/prog ideals under a bus, a school bus to be exact. Their articles uniformly hammered the departments of education and school boards for gutting the schools and destroying in-class learning by squandering the lion's share of time and resources on the tiny few who were those least able to benefit from them. How often do you see the New York Times take that approach?

I don't see any path for redemption of misled youth in this country. They bought the global warming scam hook, line and sinker because they are too ignorant to be able to tell science from voodoo and they accept unquestionably all the old liberal progressive shiboleths and never does it occur to them that someday we will run out of other people's money.

It's going to dawn on the older kids soon that there won't be a social security net for them. There won't be a guaranteed pension. The debt obligations we have now are as unpayable as Puerto Rico's. Everything they've been taught is a lie or a mistruth and they cannot go abroad anymore to try to learn from the less fortunate as their predecessors did in the Peace Corps since the countries that used to exist where modern youth could discover themselves are now violently dwelling in the 14th century and will happily crucify and behead them if they show up to preach the gospel they learned by rote at the knees of their professors.

President Trump nailed it when he spoke at the UN and told the world leaders and the rest of the world:
“The problem with Venezuela, is not that socialism has been poorly implemented, but that socialism has been faithfully implemented. From the Soviet Union to Cuba to Venezuela, wherever true socialism or communism has been adopted, it has delivered anguish and devastation and failure.”
I can generally tell if someone is smart, clever or stupid and dumb just by their attitude to socialism. If they support liberal progressive socialism than their position has been established. They are the miserable failures personified of the dismal state of education in this country.

Another organization has rolled left and died this week. As with the mighty Catholic Church, the Anglican Church, the Episcopal Church, BSA has decided to forswear the very simple foundation of their purpose and open boy scouting to girls. Their Executive Board voted unanimously to bring girls into the Boy Scouts and open a path to Eagle Scout for boys, girls, LGBTQwhatevers and tossed away the often stated purpose of the Boy Scouts, that of turning boys into young men.

Oddly enough, while I mourn the passing of even a corrupt and dying institution, I cannot bring myself to wholly believe that it will all end in tears. I suspect it will end with a whimper and a bang but it will be muted and little noted. I jumped ship on the BSA back when I was 14 and never looked back. Instead, I joined the Sea Explorers and took up sailing and enjoying the company of some really charming young ladies who were fellow Sea Explorers, some of whom also expressed an interest into turning some boys into young men. I thoroughly enjoyed it and sailed all over the southeast, middle Atlantic region, Great Lakes and beyond.

The passing of the Boy Scouts is probably the fall of the last bastion of a national male only organization that held to its charter in a sort of weak and feeble way that, obviously grew weaker and feebler after they decided a few years ago that morally straight encompasses gays and transwhatevers.

David Burge (IowaHawk) captured the liberal progressive strategy that has transformed and gutted one institution after another. I can't say it better:

I see the National Girl Scout Executive is not going to take the BSA's announcement lying down. They are, predictably, outraged that the BSA is poaching their latent members and throwing them into the company of boys. On the other hand, chaperones have been camping with the boy scouts for many years now. It's certain that the BSA of today have almost nothing in common with the BSA I joined in Fort Riley over 46 years ago.

Still, I've always liked girls in uniform.

It looks like the queen-maker of Hollywood is about to go down for rape. In the fashion of other Hollywood scum finally snared in the nets of deceit and disguest, I suspect that Harvey Weinstein will decide later this morning to visit his very good friend Roman Polanski and enjoy an extended stay at his pied-à-terre in Poland. It's kind of disgusting how many of their "friends" stand by both rapists and continue to bleat about their artistic merits surely outweighing anything they might have done to girls or women some time in the past. After all, as Weinstein's very good friend Hillary is wont to say, "what does it matter now?"

It's nice to have a man who stands up for America this near the throne in case something happens to President Trump. It's only a matter of time now given the hatred the left has for the man.

It's not really a bomb because the diesel fuel and fertilizer have not been mixed but it still must have creeped out the crew on the ship.

British bulk carrier MV Cheshire burning

It burned for two weeks off the Canary Islands before all the fertilizer was consumed. When it was toast, it looked like:

Toasted Cheshire with what looks like guano running down the sides

They came to knock down his house because he built without permission. What happened then was exactly what I would expect if the same sort of bureaucrat came to knock down a citizen's house here.

I remember reading about this back when it happened. I can't believe that they all just stood around after he pulled a gun and threatened them after they threatened him. You can see the reporters practically snuggle up to him after he pulls out the gun.
Derwentside District Council - abolished in County Durham's local government shake-up two years ago - refused to approve the development in a rural area made up of conventional farms. The council, which was keen to create an environment conducive to tourism, was also worried the bungalow represented a precedent that would unlock the door to other housing on land where it would not normally be permitted.
Dryden lost his planning appeal to keep the bungalow, although the Government inspector who chaired the hearing said some of the other buildings could stay because of the time they had been there.
The wrangle dragged on for several months with the council attempting to reach a compromise that would avoid the need to bulldoze the bungalow. The last suggestion was that Dryden modify the building and use it for keeping livestock, but he rejected this.
Finally, councillors decided there was no option but demolition, and the date was set for Thursday June 20 1991. On the day media gathered with Dryden on the land with his friends and supporters.
Dryden had a letter from the Planning Inspectorate, which he had fixed to his gate, indicating no action could be taken until an appeal had been heard. The letter had given Dryden the belief the council was breaking the law, even though there were no grounds for an appeal.
Harry Collinson came to the gate, looked at the letter and told him it contained nothing to prevent the demolition. Dryden replied that 'you might not be around to see the outcome of this disaster'.
Mr Collinson told Dryden he could have time to move things out of the building and he moved to a point in the fence where the bulldozer was to come through.
Dryden went to his caravan and picked up a First World War revolver, strode back to the fence and drew the weapon on Mr Collinson, whose last words were to the TV crew: 'Can you get a shot of this gun?'
Dryden then fired at the fleeing crowd, hoping to get the council's solicitor, Mike Dunstan, but instead hitting TV reporter Tony Belmont in the arm and PC Stephen Campbell in the backside.
Dryden had denied murder but was convicted after a trial and jailed for life at Newcastle Crown Court in 1992. He was denied parole in 2001 after it was felt he showed little evidence of remorse.
There is nothing worse than petty tyrants. I became familiar with them in school and later, after I bought my first house in a neighborhood with an HOA that could have given the NKVD tips on how to make friends and influence people. They all have this fatal character flaw. They don't ever think that somebody will resist their petty demands and take it to the limit if they think they have to. As I looked at Dryden pull the gun, I knew that he had reached his limit and was going to open fire.

I never thought I'd read about this again in my lifetime but it does look like the United States Army left a missing and possibly wounded soldier behind when the Niger army unit he was attached to was attacked.
WASHINGTON (AP) — After an extensive search, a U.S. soldier who had been missing for nearly two days in Niger was found dead, a result of a deadly ambush by dozens of Islamic extremists on a joint patrol of American and Niger forces, U.S. military officials said Friday.
The soldier, whose name has not been released, was one of four U.S. troops and four Niger forces killed in the attack.
His body was found by Niger soldiers on Friday near where the ambush occurred, and then transferred into U.S. custody at a safer location further from the attack site, said Army Col. Mark Cheadle, spokesman for U.S. Africa Command. The soldier's body was then moved onto an American helicopter by U.S. forces in a somber ceremony and then taken away for formal identification.
Eight Niger soldiers and two U.S. troops were wounded in the attack, but they were evacuated from the area on Wednesday after the attack unfolded. Cheadle said there was no indication the missing soldier was ever taken captive by the enemy forces.
U.S. officials described a chaotic assault in a densely wooded area, as 40-50 extremists in vehicles and on motorcycles fired rocket-propelled grenades and heavy machine guns at the patrol, setting off explosions and shattering windows. The soldiers got out of their trucks, returning fire and calling in support from French helicopters and fighter jets that quickly responded to the scene, according to officials. It's unclear if the French aircraft were armed or if they fired on the insurgents.
I had read about the attack on, and the death of three American Special Forces soldiers earlier this week but nothing was said about abandoning a missing soldier to his fate.

It looks like the Army is running into some basic competency failures just as the Navy is. The Navy decided to address their problem by firing the guys left holding the bag after the bean counting CNOs and SECNAVs of the last 20 years carefully and methodically gutted the Navy shore training establishment, gutted the manpower on our warships by stripping 'unessential' personnel from the ships in order to save a buck so the CNO could by his pathetic little crappy ships and boondoggle ZUMWALT class toothless tigers and then gutted the afloat training commands while over committing the Navy's few remaining ships to the same scheduled requirements that were once the purview of a navy twice the size.

I suspect Secretary Mattis is going to have a word with SOCOM and AFRICOM and perhaps try to impress upon them that we don't leave our men behind, Ever.

UPDATE: From Army Times:
On the day of the attack, about a dozen U.S. special operators and a platoon-sized element of Nigerien forces were conducting a vehicle mounted patrol “to establish relations with local leaders,” said to Col. Mark Cheadle, a spokesman for AFRICOM.
The patrol came under heavy enemy fire, and U.S. forces responded, killing the enemy forces, Cheadle said.
U.S. forces didn’t have armed aircraft overhead during the onset of the mission, Cheadle said, but the patrol was being watched by overhead drone assets.
So it looks like they were shoved through the wire to go make friends with the terrorists in the neighborhood and the terrorists probably had no problems setting up an ambush since the U.S. forces were clearly somewhere under that drone. The drone was probably piping real-time imagery to U.S. AFRICA COMMAND's headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. After all, the 1500 staff pogues stationed at the Africa Command's headquarters in Germany need something to occupy their time and attention when they're at work.

This has been ripped right off Instapundit's  page because it captures, in condensed form, exactly what has been happening in this country since the election of President Trump. People I take at face value as sane instantly go off the deep end and emote their ferocious hatred and contempt for Trump and, of course, the people that voted for him. They seem to think every single person in their orbit 'feels' the same way they do about President Trump and it certainly isn't worth disabusing them of that notion because their hatred has pushed them over the border into madness and only an idiot would engage in any kind of debate or tussle with a madman.

KURT SCHLICHTER: “I, for one, am not super inclined to give up my ability to defend myself in response to demands by people who eagerly tell me they want me enslaved or dead. Literally dead.”
And this isn’t just about the ravings of a few unhinged loonies on social media (also, it ain’t “a few”). This verbal hyperbole is the leftist establishment’s MO. This is how they intend to strip us of our rights – via a constant campaign of hate that they hope somehow leads to us just giving them up. And it’s not just guns. Free speech? Oh, that’s racist, and it causes violence – by which they mean that leftists will attack you if you attempt to speak freely. Freely exercising your religion? Not if you violate leftist scripture – then you’re a bigot and your livelihood must be destroyed even though Sue and Shelly can wander two doors down and get someone else to decorate their nasty organic carrot wedding cake.
And due process? Well, you must love rape if you think that a young man accused of it should be informed of the charges against him, allowed to cross-examine the witnesses, and have an impartial judge. Do you phallocentric male-identifying men and others have any idea how much harder it is to railroad some guy in the name of smashing the patriarchy when you actually have to prove your case with evidence? Like any woman would ever make up a rape allegation out of whole cloth! A fair trial? That’s something right out of The Handmaid’s Tale! . . .
Anyway, let’s continue our conversation. You’re not going to pin the rampage of some scumbag on millions and millions of people who didn’t do it. You’re not going to leverage this spree into disarming us – which is your ultimate goal. We know how you hate the idea that we are armed and independent, that we hold a lead veto over your fever dreams of tyrannical rule over us. You know how important it is to us to be free citizens; you yearn to humiliate us by stripping us of our self-respect by taking away our means of keeping ourselves free from the tyranny of people like you.
You never cared that 59 people were murdered – some of you, as we have seen, cheered – and I gotta say, it’s a bad look to screech “I’m glad you crackers are dead, now heed my command to give up your guns!”

As Glenn Reynolds says, Lefties are full of hate. It’s their animating spirit. All you have to do is listen to them talk.

I prefer to pass on listening to them talk. One can only take so much vicious omnidirectional hatred for everything that is not ultraleft without losing one's appetite.

Why is the left so obsessed with color? What rational basis is there for judging groups of people or even individuals by their color? Was it not Martin Luther King Jr who spoke of his dream?
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
Why is it that the left feels entirely free to rip to shreds people based solely on their color? Where will it end and why is just the left that finds color so damning?

Here's an idiot with a profound color problem.
Former first lady Michelle Obama claims the Republican Party’s lack of diversity makes Americans distrust the political process.
Why would that idiot think that? Is it because she thinks all black and brown people are inherently racist and thus they can never trust the white people? If that's the case then just who exactly are the racists in this country?
During an on-stage interview at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women Tuesday, Obama shared why she thinks diversity is so important.
“We should be working actively to mix it up, so we’re getting a real broad range of perspectives on every issue. Shoot, I would see that in Congress,” she stated.
Why invite a broad range of perspectives when 90% of them are profoundly ignorant, stupid or misinformed?  I don't see how the color of the person affects the solutions and damn the pontifcating morons like Shiela Jackson Lee or that idiot who thought the island of Guam would flip over if any more Marines stepped foot on it. Nobody really needs their point of view on anything unless you like input from idiotic bigots and racists.
“At the State of the Union address… when you are in the room what you can see is this real dichotomy. It’s a feeling of color almost,” Obama said. “On one side of the room is literally gray and white. Literally, that is the color palette on one side of the room. On the other side of the room, there are yellows and blues and whites and greens. Physically, there’s a difference in color, in the tone, because on one side all men, all white, on the other side some woman, some people of color.”
Why is color the go-to for diversity? Why not a diversity of opinions or a diversity of education or a diversity of life experience? Why is the makeup of the Supreme Court 100% Harvard or Yale Law School graduates? As of 2014, the Supreme Court had a majority from the Northeastern United States, with seven justices coming from states to the north and east of Washington, D.C. including four justices born or raised in New York City.

There is another odd thing about our diversity at the Supreme Court today. There are no Protestants sitting on the Court but at least we got whatever diversity springs from color alone. You'd think there'd be a Baptist or a Methodist in the bunch but you'd be wrong.

John Roberts (Chief Justice) Roman Catholic
Anthony Kennedy                 Roman Catholic
Clarence Thomas                 Roman Catholic
Ruth Bader Ginsburg         Judaism Clinton
Stephen Breyer                 Judaism
Samuel Alito                        Roman Catholic
Sonia Sotomayor                Roman Catholic
Elena Kagan                        Judaism Obama
Neil Gorsuch                        Raised Roman Catholic

But, as you can see, with people like the Obamas it's ALL ABOUT COLOR. They literally don't care about anything else.
“I look at that, and I go, no wonder. No wonder we struggle, no wonder people don’t trust politics. We’re not even noticing what these rooms look like,” she added.
I have a dream too. See the MLK quote above. It's about time the racists and bigots got over their insistence that color matters more than character, intelligence, background, skill, expertise or  any other quality in the room.

Oh, and take a look at the actual people in the room she was talking about. Women and black conservatives are invisible to racist bigots like Michelle Obama.

There Are None So Blind As Those Who Will Not See

Monday, October 2, 2017

We have slowly come to accept that some people are really deeply disturbed and top filled with hatred for people they don't even know. I'm not familiar with these people in the main since they were after my time at school and we just didn't seem to have them in the Navy when I was in or in the quiet places I lived afterwards such as Encinitas and MetroParkCentralis. They are a relatively new phenomenon and a most unwelcome one.

I kind of thought we were making progress when the Klan went down and George Wallace got shot. But, suddenly, every white person is a racist and all men are misogynists and people comfortable with their sex and their role in adult society as members of that binary sort are all homophobes. People don't just think it, they scream it and then they leap on one and try to bash your brains out with a bike lock or whatever sharp thing they have to hand.

This vicious beast speaks for every single one of her sort. You know them. They're the haters. They're antifa and black lives matter and the Ku Klux Klan and the actual NAZI scumbags that ran Germany and Austria into the ground back in the '40's. You hear her voice when you tune in any of the mass media or social networks because people like her are everywhere now. Here's what she had to say about the shooting in Las Vegas:
Hayley Geftman-Gold, who served as senior counsel for strategic transactions at CBS, posted to Facebook on Monday, “If they wouldn’t do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing. I’m actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters.”
CBS is finally getting attuned to the new optics of this country's winning electorate. They fired her sick diseased ass instantly. They have, at some level at least, come to understand that if they don't want their audience slashed another 50% they have to take dramatic action to stem the hatred that casually and constantly dribbles from the mouths of the people who work for them because we're sick of it and them.
