The House democrats voted some sort of exotic nonsense into being in a strict party-line vote today although 2 democrats jumped ship. It was entirely expected and it still fails the smell test for any true or actual Impeachment to begin. Nobody was surprised by the results but they did put me in mind of a couple of earlier democratic government's action which invited the contempt of better men.

As usual, they are known by their utter lack of character, honesty or integrity, as are their little whistle blowers who all seem Hell bent on their crazed path to dislodge the duly elected President and dissolve his government.

Randolph Churchill in a Letter to the Times-
He proceeded to review the conduct of the Opposition during the last three sessions. ‘Such a series of neglected opportunities, pusillanimity, combativeness at wrong moments, vacillation, dread of responsibility, repression and discouragement of hard-working followers, collusions with the Government, hankerings after coalitions, jealousies, commonplaces, want of perception on the part of the former lieutenants ... and if it be the case that Ministers have lost ground in the country, they have only themselves to blame, nor have they the slightest right to cherish feelings of resentment against the regular and responsible Opposition in the House of Commons.
His friends were distressed and I'm sure his enemies were appalled while his party was exceptionally upset.

Oliver Cromwell – Dissolution of the Long Parliament 1653

Dissolution of the Long Parliament by Oliver Cromwell given to the House of Commons, 20 April 1653.

Oliver Cromwell’s Speech
It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter’d your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?
Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil’d this sacred place, and turn’d the Lord’s temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress’d, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.
In the name of God, go!”

There are some things that happen where it's like one is hit by a bolt of lightning and Wildfire erupts near Reagan library in Southern California is one such event. The story is from the AP so I take it all with grain of salt the size of Utah but the wack jobs out there in California are well known for using fire as their most infernal method for expressing their political will. After all, they're socialists and firmly believe that the ends justify the means.

Lovely piece of racism right out of the NYT. I read it because I am a masochist. In essence, it talks about blood. I'm not one of those hundred million gallon doners but there is one thing I notice whenever and wherever I give blood to those blooodsuckers.

There are exactly zero blacks.

Zero asians.

The nation's blood supply comes from guys like me.

There are almost never any women either.

Obviously, I need to go to different places or at different times.

My ex took my 3 year old daughter and moved to Texas.

So there I am driving the right way on the one way street and what is probably the new superintendent of schools is driving at me, the wrong way on the one way street. I allow as he's kind of a stupid mother abuser and he starts to get out of his car to fight because ignorance knows no bounds and

I drive away.

Yes, it was a glorious morning.

He was going the wrong way anyway.

I'm a vampire again

it would be nice to have some. Big Als, in the morning.

This is just evil. So I like it.

Which is interesting because it was fading away quite nicely.

We went out to dinner at Blazing Bill's and it was good. 45 minutes to get a table. Weekend not planned well but good company and then we went to their home to play games. I was married and I remember going out to a PEO night almost into the mountains of San Diego where we had a really good time with all. My distaff half preferred the billionaire set of PEO and so we partied with them too. Oddly, they were equally nice if a little distant. I prefered the other group. Nobody was asking my preferences. She decided to go with the billionaire crowd.

As we played tonight our host got a pad and pencil for which to keep score. I noticed that after the first hand the score card fled and nobody discussed who was winning, because. That I think is the best way to play card games after 2200. Nobody keeps score and you laugh at card disasters.

The moon was huge in it's half-lit state just over the horizon just above the high school. And so tonight I read about the shame that is NASA and just now wish it would go away.

I used to work with the Navy labs and they were a sad herd. Ask them to do anything and they'd stovepipe it so just one guy could help you and they always asked for funding first and then if there was any reason at all to spend the money they had maybe they'd do that. I got invited to meet the D3 at SPAWAR after I wrote a STATEMENTS OF WORK for the lab that contained the language used in all of our statements of work for industry and told them to submit monthly reports and give an accounting of monies spent. The D3 told me I would be on my way to see Captain Valdez next and I told him to bring it on. I was fed up. More to the point, I was also a captain and not any sort of 'aquisition professional' and I had my congresman's address right there with me. Admittedly, my congresscritter was Randy Cunningham so really, no stick in the bag after all.

Valdez went down later that month for cheating on the physical fitness test. I was out of the country that day. Talk about lame. If you are out of town on the day of the PFT, or the wizz quiz, oh well. You pass. He was the CO, he could have just been 'out.' Still and all, I didn't work for the CO of SPAWARSYSCEN, I worked for the big cahunna. And to be honest, I didn't really work for him either. That's what made life so interesting. We were like Russians. We pretended to work and they pretended to pay us. We worked for codes in the Pentagon and they were all at war with each other. Plus, like girls, they renamed themselves every other month.

Oh, the girls, they were the GURLS, general unrestricted line GURL. Then they figured that out, ha ha and the GURLS picked another name, I forget. They then renamed themselves a couple of dozen times. We stopped paying attention.

NASA is worse. They are the complete losers of space travel. It is almost like Space Cowboys was the death knell for an agency looking for someplace to die. It will take them 4 years to build a rocket. Right. I could build one in the garage in no more than 3 years.

But farmers felt that they are being forced to bear most of the pain, and convoys of tractors converged on eight provincial assemblies on Monday.
In the northern province of Groningen, police had to hold back farmers who tried to drive a tractor through the front door of the provincial assembly. The building was pelted with eggs, and police from Germany were summoned to support their Dutch counterparts.
Certainly one of the nice things about living in the colonies. Those bastards aren't going to summon the German police. It didn't work out so well last time

Just because.

The national media has let itself go in declaring him a solon and statesmen but we know the truth.
He was an idiot.

It has been pointed out that I am an idiot and so, time to rush in with an update.

I mixed up one idiot with another idiot in Congress. In my defense, it's an easy thing to do since Congress is stuffed with idiots. Elijah was the one who represented Baltimore and Hillary. The other idiot is still living the half-life that idiots like that exist in.

Ripped from the very bowels of Assistant Village Idiot.

Every now and then I capture it in an image and paste it here.

I'm still willing to write a lot more than I'll get around to posting. For some of them, it is the topic that is perhaps too dangerous and the writing too over the top. For others, they were overtaken by events which can happen to even the best commenting. Others were written after the little grey cells had gone to sleep. I resurrect some of those for posting later.

I tore the hell out of one or more of the tendons in my knee last week before we drove to South Carolina. It got worse and worse and then yesterday it was feeling better right up until I tripped over a pillow case. Snagged one on the floor with my big toe and the pain roared back. Tonight we went out for an evening of graciousness at the Intercontinental downtown by the Cleveland Clinic and it was all good. After that we stopped at one of our favorite bookshops for an authors talk about the book, Maps of Cleveland.

The book was interesting, the topic was interesting. It was standing room only but one has to admit that is because the world's most dangerous bookshop cat took up residence on a couch next to a guy who was a little more afraid of him than I was. My right hand looks well tenderized after being the inspiration for the bloody affections of Otis (Red in Tooth and Claw).

As the talk progressed the pains forced my body into a planar formation on the couch. My better half tells me I was asleep but who can say? It didn't feel like sleep to me but the pain did recede for a brief time. Ah, I see you there wondering, was it the pain from the knee and back or the pain from the affections of Otis?

There is a cold rain falling and as it does every time, I wonder if it brings the ache from the old metal and the old wounds out to play or if it is just the absence of the fading sunsets that mark the end of summer days. This did not use to happen when the metal stayed in southern California and basked year round in what easily would pass for long summer days even in winter.

I saw a 'journalist' was recently outraged to discover a man using his right to freedom of speech with a T-shirt. The 'journolist' was outraged and his sister was appalled and the press was disgusted and amazed at the chutzpah of some citizen expressing his first amendment rights on an airplane of all things.

Evidently, they saw some guy boarding the 'journolist's' plane wearing one of these.

I don't wonder that the bro-sister were shocked at a mere citizen denigrating them and their right to speak out while at the same time condemning his God given right to speak out. There was this guy who put into words what he found unique about Americans. Here it is:

Extract from Thomas Jefferson to William Stephens Smith

the people can not be all, & always, well informed. the part which is wrong [. . .] will be discontented in proportion to the importance of the facts they misconceive. if they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. we have had 13. states independant 11. years. there has been one rebellion. that comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. what country before ever existed a century & half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it’s liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms. the remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. what signify a few lives lost in a century or two? the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. it is it’s natural manure.

You see the dilemma. To speak now in the manner of Thomas Jefferson is to invite a visit from the new red coats and their evil minions. For some reason, those eagerest to squelch your right and my right to free speech are the journalists who believe that only they may speak truth to power.....and even then only when that power wears a Republican hat.

Hey Kids!

Let's go fight against our NATO ally Turkey on behalf of zillions of Kurdish terrorists who have been attacking and killing Turks for centuries!

More at Yet another zealous attempt to force us into a war not of our making.

This would join the long War on Poverty, War on Drugs, War on Grammar, etc.

Haven't heard this kind of thing since Obama was in office. Oh, OK, I hear something like it every time I turn on the radio or PBS and hear the clowns on NPR et al clucking in fury over some other quote they're attributing to President Trump. I kind of enjoy these almost as much as I do the clips of Nigel Farage giving hell to the EU in their parliament of fools, grifters and thieves. I'm kind of looking forward to watching the British go bonkers after Farage is elected Prime Minister in five or six months.

CNN has way more than a little bias problem. CNN has revealed itself, its management and its 'talent' as wholly in the bag for the democratic party and they declared war on Republicans, libertarians and the ordinary workers of America. I agree with some of the comments at the link and I think that every minute of CNN broadcast ought to be counted as electioneering for democratic party idiocy and that it should either be factored into campaign costs or those demonized by CNN should be given equal time to rebut the tsunami of outright lies and misdirection that originate in all CNN broadcasts.

Zucker gets it exactly backwards and too stupid and blind to know it or see it.
Fox News sprang into being when Rupert Murdoch found that about 50% of America wanted a more news focused news show that wasn't simply a rundown of the democratic party's talking points and wasn't a shill for every American-hating buffoon in Hollywood, New York or Washington, DC.

UPDATE: And just look at the morons at ABC who lied about everything and got caught.

Captured in a series of pictures is the very difference between cultures and society. Cultural stasis imposed by itself on one society utterly shut down science, engineering, progress and, of course, the invention of the bikini.

I went looking for a contrived metaphor for what President Trump is doing these days and settled on this one. Dewey blew the Spanish navy out of the water in Manila Bay in retaliation for the destruction of USS Maine in Havana Bay, Cuba. It was a long time coming.

Reading this letter at Powerline is what brought those actions so long in the past to mind. There's a reason that seems to remain with President Trump but which has totally escaped of all the democrats in Congress. President Trump pretty much captures the foolishness of biting off more than one can chew safely in this letter to Congress.

I write on behalf of President Donald J. Trump in response to your numerous, legally unsupported demands made as part of what you have labeled–contrary to the Constitution of the United States and all past bipartisan precedent–as an “impeachment inquiry.” As you know, you have designed and implemented your inquiry in a manner that violates fundamental fairness and constitutionally mandated due process.
For example, you have denied the President the right to cross-examine witnesses, to call witnesses, to receive transcripts of testimony, to have access to evidence, to have counsel present, and many other basic rights guaranteed to all Americans. You have conducted your proceedings in secret. You have violated civil liberties and the separation of powers by threatening Executive Branch officials, claiming that you will seek to punish those who exercise fundamental constitutional rights and prerogatives. All of this violates the Constitution, the rule of law, and every past precedent. Never before in our history has the House of Representatives–under the control of either political party–taken the American people down the dangerous path you seem determined to pursue.
Put simply, you seek to overturn the results of the 2016 election and deprive the American people of the President they have freely chosen. Many Democrats now apparently view impeachment not only as a means to undo the democratic results of the last election, but as a strategy to influence the next election, which is barely more than a year away. As one member of Congress explained, he is “concerned that if we don’t impeach the President, he will get reelected.”1 Your highly partisan and unconstitutional effort threatens grave and lasting damage to our democratic institutions, to our system of free elections, and to the American people.
For his part, President Trump took the unprecedented step of providing the public transparency by declassifying and releasing the record of his call with President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. The record clearly established that the call was completely appropriate and that there is no basis for your inquiry. The fact that there was nothing wrong with the call was also powerfully confirmed by Chairman Schiff’s decision to create a false version of the call and read it to the American people at a congressional hearing, without disclosing that he was simply making it all up.
In addition, information has recently come to light that the whistleblower had contact with Chairman Schiff’s office before filing the complaint. His initial denial of such contact caused The Washington Post to conclude that Chairman Schiff “clearly made a statement that was false.”2 In any event, the American people understand that Chairman Schiff cannot covertly assist with the submission of a complaint, mislead the public about his involvement, read a counterfeit version of the call to the American people, and then pretend to sit in judgment as a neutral “investigator.”
For these reasons, President Trump and his Administration reject your baseless, unconstitutional efforts to overturn the democratic process. Your unprecedented actions have left the President with no choice. In order to fulfill his duties to the American people, the Constitution, the Executive Branch, and all future occupants of the Office of the Presidency, President Trump and his Administration cannot participate in your partisan and unconstitutional inquiry under these circumstances.
The Committees’ iniquity also suffers from a separate, fatal defect. Despite Speaker Pelosi’s commitment to “treat the President with fairness,”6 the Committees have not established any procedures affording the President even the most basic protections demanded by due process under the Constitution and by fundamental fairness. Chairman Nadler of the House Judiciary Committee has expressly acknowledged, at least when the President was a member of his own party, that “[t]he power of impeachment … demands a rigorous level of due process,” and that in this context “due process mean[s] … the right to be informed of the law, of the charges against you, the right to confront the witnesses against you, to call your own witnesses, and to have the assistance of counsel.”7 All of these procedures have been abandoned here.
It is transparent that you have resorted to such unprecedented and unconstitutional procedures because you know that a fair process would expose the lack of any basis for your inquiry. Your current effort is founded on a completely appropriate call on July 25,2019, between President Trump and President Zelenskyy of Ukraine. Without waiting to see what was actually said on the call, a press conference was held announcing an “impeachment inquiry” based on falsehoods and misinformation about the call.21 To rebut those falsehoods, and to provide transparency to the American people, President Trump secured agreement from the Government of Ukraine and took the extraordinary step of declassifying and publicly releasing the record of the call. That record clearly established that the call was completely appropriate, that the President did nothing wrong, and that there is no basis for an impeachment inquiry. At a joint press conference shortly after the call’s public release, President Zelenskyy agreed that the call was appropriate.22 In addition, the Department of Justice announced that officials there had reviewed the call after a referral for an alleged campaign finance law violation and found no such violation.23
Perhaps the best evidence that there was no wrongdoing on the call is the fact that, after the actual record of the call was released, Chairman Schiff chose to concoct a false version of the call and to read his made-up transcript to the American people at a public hearing.24 This powerfully confirms there is no issue with the actual call. Otherwise, why would Chairman Schiff feel the need to make up his own version? The Chairman’s action only further undermines the public’s confidence in the fairness of any inquiry before his Committee.
For the foregoing reasons, the President cannot allow your constitutionally illegitimate proceedings to distract him and those in the Executive Branch from their work on behalf of the American people. The President has a country to lead. The American people elected him to do this job, and he remains focused on fulfilling his promises to the American people. He has important work that he must continue on their behalf, both at home and around the world, including continuing strong economic growth, extending historically low levels of unemployment, negotiating trade deals, fixing our broken immigration system, lowering prescription drug prices, and addressing mass shooting violence. We hope that, in light of the many deficiencies we have identified in your proceedings, you will abandon the current invalid efforts to pursue an impeachment inquiry and join the President in focusing on the many important goals that matter to the American people.
Why do the socialists always jump to install kangaroo courts and then insist that they're every bit as worthwhile and good as real courts where all parties are represented by qualified legal counsel and provided with what we all know to be the common rights of the accused in the United States?

The President is going to tear those losers to pieces just as Dewey did the Spanish Asiatic Squadron.

I used to live in the formerly great state of Californiastan but I moved out almost a decade ago. It sure has gone to the dogs since I left but it was well on its way to Hell long before I left. We had the worst and most corrupt local and state governments it was possible to buy and we had spending so far out of control that there was no longer any point in even trying to address getting it fixed and under control and then the truly crazy socialists took over both houses in the State Assembly and various evil lawbreakers were elected governor and were our senators for what felt like forever.

Here is an interactive map of the power shutdown and removal that is being enforced now in the Bay Area. The blue shaded areas are the ones without power going forward until the ending of the world or whenever...

Californiastan turned into a Third World shithole so fast... I only turned my back on it for a minute.

It's amazing how this cartoon resonates with the games the various democratic party led committees and leaders in the House of Representatives as they seek to impeach President Trump without ever actually taking a vote of the House to impeach the President. They are playing with fire and seem to think that they win if they just stick to their resolve because rethuglicans invariably cower from the mobs they think the democrats command. If only they knew that the mob is basically antifa and 99% of Americans would rejoice if antifa was simply exterminated root and branch as the Germans should have done to the NAZIs and the Communists before the War.

We’re in beautiful Beaufort and thus lightly blogging. Were also not paying any attention to the news.

California passed and Newsome signed a measure that would require anybody running for President to submit the previous 5 years of his or her tax returns. It was just tossed out by the first Federal court to review this stupid measure.

I missed any discussion of this news but then, I go out of my way to avoid broadcast news. I did enjoy the idiocy of Governor Newsome with his witty bon mot on the minimum requirements for office of President of the United States. Newsome is stupid enough to think that there is something extra-special about President and it requires more of more and then some. Anything to limit the scope of candidates to those favored by wealthy Californians and NOBODY ELSE.
“These are extraordinary times and states have a legal and moral duty to do everything in their power to ensure leaders seeking the highest offices meet minimal standards, and to restore public confidence,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said in a statement in July.
England appeared to sympathize with lawmakers’ intent. “[W]hile this Court understands and empathizes with the motivations that prompted California,” he said in his decision, “the Act’s provisions likely violate the Constitution and the laws of the United States.”
Those of us educated in the last millenium know, because we were required to study civics, the Constitution and history, that the sole qualification to run for President of the United States consists only of:
"No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

It seems a Virginia policeman in Fairfax County detained a driver in an accident for driving without a license and, having determined that he was wanted on a Federal warrant, detained the illegal immigrant at the scene until an officer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement showed up to take him into custody. The powers that be in Fairfax police HQ came up with a way to reward this exceptional officer for his attention to detail and duty.
“This is an unfortunate issue where the officer was confused,” the police chief said, according to the Washington Post. “We have trained on this issue a lot. This is the first time we’ve had a lapse in judgment, and the officer is being punished.”
The officer has been relieved of all law-enforcement duties pending an internal investigation.
“Our police officer violated our longstanding policy and deprived a person of their freedom, which is unacceptable,” Roessler added in a statement.
And here I thought the single and sole purpose of modern police was to deprive citizens of their freedom and lock them up for the pleasure of the courts. I mean it looks like that from here but maybe I have never lived in a place where that isn't what the police do.

In America it seems that one side is collectively calling for the silencing of the other side. Democrats who are mostly all communists these days, consider it an affront and grossly illegal for Republicans or others to disagree with them and publicly say so. One and all they rear back on their hind legs and demand that we be silenced! Shut up, they say!
SEN. KAMALA HARRIS: Frankly, when you look at what he's been tweeting today, directed at the whistleblower, directed at so many people, I frankly think that based on this and all we've seen him do before, including attacking members of Congress, that he -- frankly his Twitter account should be suspended.
Here is the most dishonest and sleazy attorney-general in history demanding that Twitter cancel the President's twitter account because he uses it as a direct pipeline to the people and bypasses all the "wise" gatekeepers in the media who quite literally cannot bring themselves to mouth a single positive utterance about President Trump. It's a dismal reflection of not just the times, but of the Democratic party. It was the Democrats under Wilson that silenced Eugene V. Debbs for disagreeing that our entrance into a continental European war was necessary or desirable. Wilson had him locked up and took every single one of his civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution, folded them until they were all corners and then shoved them up his fundament.

It is always the first thing they do. They simply cannot help but find that all who disagree should lose all their rights and be locked up and if making the rights of citizens subject to laws that conflict with the Constitution, they are prepared to go to any length to get what they see as 'best for the people.' If that means building gulags or gunning people down in the streets, so be it.

Stay classy Kamala. Remember, you are now speaking for all democrats everywhere in this country.

We lost a bit of heritage and at least two people in the crash of a B-17G today as it made it's approach to land at Bradley Airport. The first details are here. Two pilots, an attendant and 10 paying passengers were on the flight when it crashed. The plane was one of the aircraft of the Collings Foundation taking part in the airshow.

The B-17 on the ground Monday

It is way too close to the truth.

I think there are a lot of police who are getting nervous in the service because this is one of the very rare times that one of them has been held accountable for murdering an innocent person because they can get away with it. I think as we go forward more and more of them will be held to account. That ridiculous and nearly deadly charade of law enforcement when an LA cop ran amok and the rest of the police forces in southern California responded by shooting every pickup truck on the road was a sign that things in police world are out of control.

Legal Experts Warn Amber Guyger Verdict Could Set Dangerous Precedent Of Police Officers Not Being Allowed To Shoot Anyone They Want
October 1st, 2019
DALLAS, TX—Former police officer Amber Guyger was found guilty of murder today. Many are praising the verdict, saying that Guyger deserved the murder sentence for busting into her neighbor's apartment and shooting him.
But some legal experts say this could set a dangerous precedent of police officers not being allowed to shoot anyone they want.
"Imagine an America where a police officer can't break into your home and just shoot you to death---that's not my America," said one Dallas lawyer. "This is really stoking fears all over the country that we will no longer be able to trust our police officers to kick in the wrong door and shoot us in the face."
He shook his head. "Today, justice has been served---and that's a bad omen for any police officer who may want to one day exercise his right to go into your home and shoot you."
Guyger and her legal counsel relied heavily on the "But I was a cop" argument as well as the "I feared for my life" defense, plus a creative use of the "Did I mention I was a cop?" legal precedent. But shockingly, none of these arguments worked, baffling legal experts and causing many to worry about the future of our justice system.
Spokespeople for the justice system assured Americans the decision was a fluke and that it "won't happen again."
This is the picture at the 'shooting' link. It makes for terrible reading. 2 people out delivering newspapers had the misfortune to appear in front of police officers far more worried about themselves getting home than giving a rat's ass if innocent civilians get to make it home alive.

No charges for LAPD officers who shot newspaper delivery women during Dorner manhunt

Investigators collect evidence on Feb. 7, 2013, after police officers opened fire on a pickup truck in a case of mistaken identity, wounding two women who were delivering newspapers.(Bob Chamberlin / Los Angeles Times)
JAN. 27, 2016 11:46 AM
Eight Los Angeles police officers who mistakenly opened fire on Los Angeles Times newspaper delivery women thinking they were rogue ex-cop Christopher Dorner in 2013 will not be criminally charged, the L.A. County district attorney’s office announced Wednesday.
Those cops should still be in jail for attempted murder.
