My intent, after stabbing myself 3 times, was to mention and show a deer. We were driving up RiverView Road here in MetroParkDentralis ( oh what the hell, metroparkdenrtralis fit the mood) and I was saying to the driver that one never ever sees your actual deer in the wood.) They're always in the yard and, of course, a deer right in front of us crossed the road to be in the wood and I said, "look! a deer in the wood" and she looked left and said, "look, deer in the yard."

Ohio is like that.

I drove out to the FarmMetroPark to drop off something warm and came home in the deepening lake effect snow I've been hearing about but seldom see. It is really cold and snowy out there on this side of the solar system.

FIELD SAFETY TIP

Muslim Terrorists are notorious for being anal retentive. In their manual for employing terrorist attacks it really emphasized the importance of conducting surveillance of the target. Therefore, an alert observer will take note of the same vehicle that circles the block and slows down each time it goes by. A keen observer will note who enters a meeting place or restaurant, scopes it out and leaves without comment. A wary observer will note who appears at a party and then, inexplicably, leaves a few minutes later.

A wise observer will note every time a muslim terrorist does that and take the opportunity to leave immediately or stand to, check the weapons and prepare to counter an imminent attack.

You know the only reason that scumbag went to the party and then left immediately was to verify the time and place and presence of his enemies.

OUT OF THE DARK

I sailed the Pacific and Indian Oceans a lot. I flew over the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans more times than I can recall. I saw first hand how large the world is and that's down near the bottom of the atmosphere and along the top few yards of the seas. It's a very big place and it's all an enormous heat sink that our piddly efforts will not trouble at all. That is largely why I never believed in the global warming hysteria whipped into life by Al Gore and the Climategate scammers.

I stopped by Watts Up With That that tonight and found an interesting essay that was linked on the site. It was written by a warmist who looked at and examined all the facts without flailing his arms and legs about, jamming his fingers in his ears and screaming witlessly for hours. You might find it interesting. He has now seen the light.

THE ONE-MINUTE CLIMATE SURVEY

1 Weather is not climate. There are no studies showing a conclusive link between global warming and increased frequency or intensity of storms, droughts, floods, cold or heat waves. 

2 Natural variation in weather and climate is tremendous. Most of what people call “global warming” is natural. 

3 There is tremendous uncertainty as to how the climate really works. Climate models are not yet skillful; predictions are unresolved. 

4 New research shows that fluctuations in energy from the sun correlate very strongly with changes in earth’s temperature, at both long and short time scales.
5 CO2 has very little to do with it. All the decarbonization we can do isn’t going to change the climate much. 

6 There is no such thing as “carbon pollution.” Carbon dioxide is coming out of your nose right now; it is not a poisonous gas. CO2 concentrations in previous eras have been many times higher than they are today. 

7 Sea level will probably continue to rise, naturally and slowly. Researchers have found no link between CO2 and sea level. 

8 The Arctic experiences natural variation as well, with some years warmer earlier than others. Polar bear numbers are up, not down. They have more to do with hunting permits than CO2*. 

9 No one has shown any damage to reef or marine systems. Additional man-made CO2 will not likely harm oceans, reef systems, or marine life. Fish are mostly threatened by people who eat them. 

10 The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and others are pursuing a political agenda and a PR campaign, not scientific inquiry. There’s a tremendous amount of trickery going on under the surface*.

It's nothing really new, but he found his way into the light of reason just from examining the facts. As all facts unite to demonstrate, the arguments in favor of man-made climate change are nothing but pathetic stories told to frighten the stupid into parting with their wealth and freedom. The essay is well worth reading.

Something else to keep in mind. The people who want to steal the world's wealth to fight an enemy only they can fight are also fighting to keep billions of people in the darkness. That's not right.

ROLL OF SHAME

A pack of lunatic, almost, but not quite, scientists, signed a letter and submitted it to the Attorney General of the United States demanding that climate deniers be purged, prosecuted as criminals and thrown in jail for the crime of debating the actual science of global warming. I didn't want them to pass unnoticed.

The list below contains the names and affiliations of pseudo-scientists who wrote to President Obama urging him to use the RICO statute to prosecute people who disagree with them on climate science and telling him to use all necessary law and force to end the debate on climate science and put scientific disagreement with the global warming scam in the same status as organized crime.  If they can't win the scientific debate with persuasion, they will win it by sending the deniers to jail.  From the letter:

One additional tool – recently proposed by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse – is a RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act) investigation of corporations and other organizations that have knowingly deceived the American people about the risks of climate change, as a means to forestall America’s response to climate change. The letter was signed by the following "climate priests/scientists":

I returned to the source to check my facts and this is what now appears in place of their despicable letter:

The letter that was inadvertently posted on this web site has been removed. It was decided more than two years ago that the Institute of Global Environment and Society (IGES) would be dissolved when the projects then undertaken by IGES would be completed. All research projects by IGES were completed in July 2015, and the IGES web site is in the process of being decommissioned.

It appears that the IGES people have suddenly been made aware of just where they stand under the law and how it deals with corrupt practices. For more on that see the fascinating reading at Watts Up With That.

It would appear that there’s about $31.5 million in overhead (1/2 of 63 million) that should have gone to GMU, but the grants were run through the consulting company, in clear violation of the rules for state employees. This is money that the taxpayers of Virginia had to pony up instead. 

IGES’ Form 990 shows Shukla worked 28 hours per week for it. That can only happen if the Dean approves an overage beyond the eight hours allowed.  

GMU’s faculty Dean had to know about the magnitude of the money flowing through IGES and into the Shukla family. 

GMU’s Provost had to know this, because no Dean would permit that all that overhead to not go to the university on his or her own. 

Perhaps the President knew. 

NSF had to know this. 

NOAA had to know this. 

NASA had to know this. 

Apparently each one of these entities felt they were above the law. You may be looking at the largest science scandal in US history. 

I don't know about the largest science scandal in history. I always thought that honor fell to the National Ignition Facility (NIF). What the people who signed that letter did was a scandal and a discredit to science and their affiliated universities. Siccing the prosecutor of the United States on people who do nothing more than disagree with Al Gore's science, research methods or practices, is inexcusable.

INTERESTING DEVELOPMENTS

It will be interesting to see how they react if Homeland Security does not get funded. Will it be like the Government shutdown orchestrated by Obama last time with hordes of armed men taking to the streets and shutting down and guarding national parks and monuments? I think I can take it if the TSA fails to appear for work but knowing them like I do, they will promptly order the airlines to sit idle on the runways and taxiways waiting for TSA types to screen luggage and passengers.

Still, I passed through my old home Fort Riley on the way home from San Diego last week and stopped at the Exchange where they not only sold weapons but had lots and lots of ammo. Since we were driving, I bought 150 rounds of .45 which gets us back to the "time to go to the range" mode. I also made a point of visiting the Walmart in Vandalia since we spent the night right next to it and checked out their ammo supply. It was too cool. They had lots of guns and ammo. MetroParkCentralis does not do guns and ammo at their Walmarts. MCRD's Exchange stopped selling guns and ammo 30 years ago. I know, it's where I bought my first .45. None of the Exchanges in California sell either weapons or ammo.

We had a very nice vacation. We took the train to San Diego and had a Sleeper car from Chicago. We were a couple of hours late leaving Chicago which left us plenty of time to get to LA. We got off at Fullerton and caught our connecting train as it passed through enroute to San Diego. We stayed at Naval Air Station North Island and after a few wonderful days we got in a rented car and headed home via Las Vegas, Denver, Fort Riley and Vandalia.

The last day of driving was over the top. We were driving on I-70 just west of Columbus, Ohio when the traffic on the freeway came to a dead stop. We were in the left lane and I soon found myself in a place where I could see people bailing out across the median and heading back west. Opportunity gave us a chance to get into the middle lane and I took it. Another pure chance gave us plenty of room and time to get into the right lane and I took it. All the while announcing that I was the most patient of men and in no hurry and could simply wait all night for the road to clear. Then I steered into the shoulder and took the offramp for State Route 29 to US-40 and never looked back.

It turns out there was an enormous pile-up on the freeway and those who failed to bail were going to spend the next 5 hours running out of gas and heat in the subzero traffic jam that used to be I-70.

We got home a little after midnight after driving up I-71 in white-out conditions. It was funny. It was 73 in California, the same in Las Vegas, 65 in Denver, cold in Fort Riley, freezing in Vandalia and subzero in MetroParkCentralis. It's going to be like that for the rest of the week.

There was no snow at all until Indianapolis but plenty after that. The west slope of the Rockies had no snow. There was nothing until we got to Vail. There was little to speak of all the way to the Continental Divide. We talked to a musician who was on the train with us, enroute to play a gig at hte House of Blues in San Diego. He was the one that let me know that there was zero snow in the Sierras. California is so screwed. Drought, NO snowpack in the mountains, no water. There was a light dusting at the peak of San Gorgonio but the rest of the mountain chain was bare.

BEATING THE RECORD FOR LOWEST AIRPLANE FLIGHT

The result is moderately terrifying – 8 previously unknown near Earth asteroids with catastrophic impact potential have been discovered, along with a host of smaller bodies which have the potential to wipe out a city.

As with global warming and dogs, one wonders why people bother. With the best telescopes, all the money in the universe and an army of slaves, if you saw a killer planetoid speeding directly towards an earth shattering collision, what the hell would you do about it? Global warming/cooling? We're talking about a whole entire planet. When you think you have an idea how gigantic that is, hop on a plane at SFO and fly to Japan. NIMBYs have no idea how big a planet is.

PUNTING SCIENCE DOWN THE STREET

I see and know that the Climate Warriors are now gathered in New York City to scream about the destruction of the people's sphere until they grow hoarse and weary and then they'll climb back on their busses and executive jets and fly to Lima, Peru to scream some more after a lie down. As an empiricist, I occasionally ask one of them what he hopes to achieve.

I know, I waste his breath and damage my ears but it's worth asking. If the conditions that exist now result in inevitable global warming, what steps could you or we possibly take to ameliorate them and keep the planet from continuing to warm forever? I mean to say, all the scammers claim that the atmosphere contains the lethal planet killing dose of CO²  at this time. They demand that we stop adding to the killing bolus but never address how to actually fix it other than demanding that money be taken from us and given to them.

Nobody ever discusses how we're going to make the existing greenhouse gasses that scammers claim cause global warming go away and so end precipitous global warming. On this topic, ve vill have SCILENCE!

It looks like a couple of people have decided that the world's missing heat is hiding in the deep Atlantic where it is lurking under a bushel or something slightly scarier. At any rate, it's just a matter of days now before we'll be buried again under a rain of misery and screams of outright terror as the ignorant followers of the Global Warming Permanent Crisis get reminded of the ocean bottom clathrates that will melt and KILL US ALL!!!!!

So we have that too look forward to. I guess were going to be forced to pave the bottom of the oceans. Just to be safe.
