EVER WONDER WHY

One of the things that puzzles people today is how it became national policy to hunt the Buffalo nearly to extinction. They used to cover the Great Plains in their uncounted millions but their numbers were reduced to a small handful after hunters went after them without mercy.

What is a nomad? Who were the nomads of the Great Plains who followed the buffalo? How do you get nomads to give up their roaming ways and settle down?

It was good to catch another glimpse of the bison as we drove around Colorado. Naturally, the only place we saw any was up in the Rocky Mountains on our way to Breckinridge.

Didja know that Ross Perot had bison on the grounds of EDS's corporate HQ in Plano, TX? That was a running joke (of sorts) for us EDS'ers that lived and worked outside of Texas...

I know, I know. Nearly TOTALLY O/T.

I kinda wonder about the extinction of the Passenger Pigeon.
I would bet it was the folks who can't figure out how far someone going 80 mile an hour would travel in an hour?

If I can do it, you can do it! :)

I once worked with an EDS'er who lived in San Francisco and commuted to Plano every Monday morning and returned Friday night. I asked her if it didn't get old and she said no, "could you imagine living in Plano?" I had to admit I couldn't see her or her girlfriend living in Plano at the time.

I read Collapse when it came out and I wondered how the man who cut down the last tree on Easter Island felt as he did it. I saw that the last Passenger Pigeon was killed by a boy right here in Ohio. As worms prove every day, you don't have to be smart to be alive.
