I just learned tonight that the
Daily Telegraph is publishing its newspaper from 100 years ago online. You can follow the Great War in near real time. It gives an interesting perspective about what was going on while western civilization crumbled and empires died in the mud of France.

I had NO ideer! Thanks for the link, many minutes... and not a few hours... will die here.
I just spent another couple of hours there. It's hard to believe how much the social mores of the world changed, almost overnight but the reaction to such a huge bloodletting and relief among the survivors is almost palpable.
