RUSSIAN ROCKETS

What happened to America's space program? That asked, what happened to the European space program? How did Russia get an exclusive lock on launching all payloads and satellites into space? I know NASA garbaged the manned space program we used to have but now they and the European non-Space Agency are forced to use unreliable Russian rockets.

I think it is long past time to kick Bolden to the curb. He has been a dismal failure as head of NASA.

Seriously, why are we forced to use Russian rockets? What happened to our rockets?

What happened to our rockets?

Your guess is as good as mine but I'm pretty sure money (specifically the lack of it) has a lot to do with the problem.

I suspect it was the formation of United Launch Alliance. When I worked above their fuel tank production facility at Plant 19 I was always struck by the vast floor of jigs and tools and that there were only a dozen or so machinists making the tanks for all the rockets. The same team would progress from jig to jig, welder to welder and make the giant fuel tanks.
I cannot say how the Russians ended up building ULA's rocket motors.

Bolden is not a failure. He is doing just what Obama wants. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/05/nasa-chief-frontier-better-relations-muslims/. Scroll down to Constellation program or go here for interesting comments by Michio Kaku .http://www.foxnews.com/topics/space/constellations.htm#r_src=ramp

He did not have to lend himself to this fiasco. It's not just the failure of the manned space program and everything that flowed from that, it is the whole GIS database that he let a whackjob control for far too long and use to chime in with the disgraced Climate Research Scam out of East Anglia.

For a Marine Major General I met in the field when he was with I MEF, he appears to be a complete non-entity at NASA which surprises the hell out of me.
