ODDLY ENOUGH

The Del Mar Race Track is many things. They run horse races there for about 6 weeks in the summer and then it returns to the other things it does such as host garden shows and the International Crossroads of the West Gun Show which I attended a couple of times when I lived across the street about 2 blocks away.

Oddly enough there were thousands of guns and hundreds of armed people that turned out for the gun shows and I never heard of a single shooting. It must be because they didn't invite rappers to the party.

Among the most perfectly self-entitled people in America.
A sheriff's deputy shot a man Sunday after he pulled a gun and fired several shots when he was told he couldn’t get a ticket to the sold-out Ice Cube concert at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, authorities said.
Sheriff’s officials said the man had gone to a ticket window around 6:40 p.m., hoping to buy a ticket to the concert, and became upset when he was told none were available.
“An argument ensued and nearby deputies responded,” a sheriff’s statement said. “The man pulled out a silver plated semi-automatic handgun and fired several shots into a crowded area. Deputies engaged and returned fire.”
The shooting, which occurred during the final race of the day, created a chaotic scene at the venue. The man who was shot was taken to the hospital by ambulance; his condition was not known.
You wanna guess where 50% of the Sheriff's Deputies were at the time? Yep. Right there.

You have a point there. When I am at the trap range and there are a couple of hundred guys standing around holding shotguns you never saw such a polite bunch of fellows.

I can't recall who said it first, "An armed society is a polite society." It sounds like something Heinlein would have written.
