I was out to dinner with friends last night and they never heard of the movie. It was one of the most watched movies on Esteem back in the day. It must have been shown at least once a day for months despite the fact that we had over 900 movies in the movie locker. The navy had some strange ideas about what movies would be suitable for a crew of all men between the ages of 18 and 35.

When I left my last active duty ship in '78 to go to shore duty, the movies were still 16mm films, and if you ran the projector you were paid one dollar.
I wonder when that stopped.
I remember reading the Remo Williams novels, and I will have to check out the movie.
In 87 or so they started giving ships film libraries of around 800 movies on betamax tapes. They would send you new movies every month and you'd send back a handful. I had no idea that Remo was the Destroyer until long after the movie came out. I never read any of the books.
At the end of the movie wasn't there a flat plot statement that a sequel was in the works? Wha hoppen?
I have no idea why they didn't follow through with a second film. This one is a classic for the time and it could easily have been followed by a second movie.
