THE FRIENDLY SKIES OF UNITED OUT OF REACH

The thoroughly disgusting CEO of United Airlines sent an email to his employees praising them for brutally beating a 69 year old passenger who had paid good money to fly United to get home. The poor guy was punched in the mouth and then dragged out of his seat by airport/airline thugs who then dragged him down the center aisle and out the door. If you haven't seen the video, you should. There is no justification for what United did. If the money they offered wasn't enough to get 4 people to take the deal, then United needed to offer more money and a better deal. Beating the crap out of a paying passenger and then dragging him off the plane was as cinematically toxic as wandering through the wreckage of a downed passenger plane and capturing all the details on video for all prospective passengers to watch before boarding.

Idiots.

I hope he does file a law suit. United needs to understand what is right and what is wrong and if it cost's them $100,000,000 sobeit. I particularly hate the charge made by the CEO that the man was belligerent. Watching the cops wade in and beat down people and then charge them with assault because they resisted getting clubbed to the ground is just vile.

I hear you, but. You leave your liberties/rights at the boarding gate. When they tell you to "get off the airplane" the only thing I want to see is you heading for the exit. If you have a problem with that get a lawyer and tell it to the Judge. I don't need to be strapped into a pressurized tube at 37K feet with a nut job that I can't get away from.

Reminds me of that stupid movie with Rorsach in the jail. "I'm not trapped in here with you! You're trapped in here with me!" I tend to agree with you but in this case we have a simple assault on a 69 year old man because the dumb bastards thought they could get away with it. Everything about that situation was toxic beyond belief but nobody at United said, 'stop. wait a minute. rather than beat up an old guy who bought a ticket in good faith and is on the plane, sitting quietly in his assigned seat, let's offer more money and a business class ticket on the next flight to Loiusville to sweeten the pot. it's a win win. everybody will be amused at our desperation to get some seats freed up so we can get a flight crew we damned well should have known needed seats on this flight, to get to their port of embarkation for a timely flight out of Louisville in the morning.'
But they didn't go that route. They sent armed thugs onto their plane to drag a man who had every legal right to be there off the plane at any cost and despite any negative PR it would generate in the era of the ubiquitous cell phone camera.
It makes me think that the people/pilots/aircrew of United are just to damned stupid to fly me to my destination. They've got no sense of proportion or any other kind of sense.
I once flew in a C-5 from Norfolk, Va to Rota Spain with someone's child screaming at the top of its lungs every single inch of the way. Talk about trapped in a pressurized tube...
