Finally!
We were driving down Highway 1 from Big Sur and saw this huge plume that wasn't a cloud. It wasn't until we checked in at NAB Coronado that we realized that it was the biggest rocket ever launched out of Vandenberg.
Big sucker on the right...
What we saw
The viewing is limited in MassifCentalisOriental so this is the first good bit of sky stuff we've witnessed since the Transit of Venus.

I was stationed at Vandenberg from '64 until early '68. I saw a LOT of launches during time... beginning with this war story.
I was in San Diego for over 20 years and always meant to get up there to watch a shot but never did. Something always came up on the few they published far enough in advance for me to get there for to watch.
