Your not wrong. The long story is the history of stone age people going up against iron age people. There were going to be winners and losers. Tenochtitlan and the Incas had most of the aspects of civilization far in advance of western Europe but lost and lost hard. I still enjoy the books about alt history. I recommend Conquistador if you haven't read it. It's by S M Sterling. It's about a world that might have been.
I was at the VA yesterday for some tests and there was a guy pushing one of the medical trolleys and as he passed me I caught a glimpse of his sweatshirt so I had to ask him, "Is that really table cat?" "Yep."
