A PARTY

Went to the heart of the city today for a party in a professor's home. I barely knew him or anybody else there and had a great time. I probably spent 2 hours talking about flying with the guy next to me. I haven't flown since I was a student at SWOS in 1984. He is a newish pilot and has @120 hours and is already talking about getting his ATR and instrument rating.

It was a good fascinating chat and we both agreed that only foolish pilots fly at night or over water. OTGH, he flies out of Burke Lakefront Airport so water is in his future. Me? I just used to fly down the beach from Wildwood to Cape May. We both agreed that we'd land in trees before we crashed into water in a Cessna. Nobody walks away from a water landing in a Cessna.

Ouch. Not to sound callous, I hope it was the impact that got them. I think forced drowning is one of the worst ways to go out.

I'm not a huge fan of ORM but how did they lose three aircraft out of Otis without anybody taking steps?
