"We are not erasing history," James Piper Bond, CEO of Living Classrooms Foundation, said in a statement. "Nor is it our intention to minimize the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have served with honor aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Taney. Our intention is to learn from history and celebrate the legacy of the ship and those who served aboard."He's erasing history. What else do you call it when you blot out the name of a ship because you have a sudden hate on for the people who died 180 years ago?
If you have never actually troubled to read the Dred Scott story. Hit the link. It's fascinating and brief.

Despicable and dishonorable.
What the Hell are they thinking?
(Yes, that was rhetorical, they're not thinking at all, are they?)
We talked to a man our age, ok, older, who was camping in our manse in Maine and while we sat at the ice cream pavilion in New Harbor, Maine, he allowed as how he was also from Newport. I was too once, rather a lot. He's on his bucket list and on his way out with style. My kind of guy.
What's this I hear about you denizens deciding to rename my old state?! Sheesh, a good long name tossed to the dogs for nothing. Might as well be connecticut.
The Unenlightened have been moaning about that name for years. Now it seems the loony Left see their chance. Those who know nothing cannot possibly know what they are destroying. The Progressive idiots are on the rise, hopefully they crash and burn soon, the spectacle is sickening.
Went to Providence once to watch the Reds play hockey. Flew there a couple of times enroute to Avery Point when I used to try to leverage the Coast Guard's R&D team. The last time I went there, the magic being gave that speech to the Dem Convention and dodo saluted us all as the future next pres of the US. Never went back. Did hand them folks a plastic spoon on my way out. It was diver detection and deterrence as I recall in a lake. My boss sent me. We were not amused. I thought the spoon could help them detect a diver just about as well as the gear on display.
Shameful. The ship is to be honored for her deeds, no matter what her name is.
Exactly!
