NAME THE MISSILES

What are the things our Navy is claiming to shoot down all the time in the Red Sea. Every missile has a name so what are these 3rd world missiles being zorched  by Aegis? Who makes them? How do they get to Yemen? Are they subject to EW? How are the Houthi targeting them? What do they use for targeting? Is it really something as boneheaded and simple as sending radar homing missiles to the coordinates of the ships being broadcast by every single ship over the Automatic Identification System (AIS)?

Just how stupid would a mariner have to be to leave that enabled anywhere at all in the Red Sea, North Arabian Sea, Persian Gulf or Indian Ocean?

Why don't we just do like the NATO fools and escort only US Flagged ships like we did back the last time this happened and Iran was attacking KOTC tankers in the Persian Gulf? We are under no obligation at all to protect the world's shipping or the world's oceans. I find I'm OK if trade comes to a dead stop through the Suez Canal.

Wondering why Egypt isn't protecting a major source of income...

I fail to understand:
if the Houthis are using ships’ AIS to target them, why not loft balloons or send small motorized vessels with transmitters sending out an AIS signal and use the Houthi rockets in lieu of clay pigeons for skeet practice?

Throughout the Tanker War we knew that Iran was conducting MARPAT just about every day. They were the two aircraft I was ordered to not engage when I stood Officer of the Deck. There wasn't much chance of that since the two were a C-130 and a P-3 and flew well above the reach of our guns. What do the Houthis use for maritime surveillance to get these ships ID and attack them? It could well be Iranians and some of their long range drones/killer drones flying out of Yemen but in that case, why do they still exist? It would be very easy for Aegis to track surveillance drones back to the vanishing point and then use satellites to pinpoint the drone / missile bases and wipe them out. That this hasn't happened speaks volumes.

Who's providing the Hothi's the missiles and targeting data?

Look around at the many little brown people nations we have annoyed over the past 20 year.

Some have satellites in orbit.

Goodness that might be everybody in the area?

It's getting too expensive to play world policeman turned skeet shooter when 50K drones are getting shot down by one (OR MORE) Multi-million-dollar missiles. I hear that the 50 year old Phalanx system finally shot down its first hostile missile. THAT means that American Warships multi-layer missile defense AND Decoys failed or were expended.

Back when I was a weapons officer are doctrine was "shoot shoot, look". So yeah, we fired 2 missiles at every vampire (assuming we had any and not counting missile exercises where you only got the one bird.)
