THE RED CROSS WANTS ME

I received an urgent plea from the Red Cross to give blood. They declared that all donors must of course wear a face mask during the donation for the safety that's in it. It's an interesting take on risk management that something as useless as a paper mask is required but yet they are working day and night to eliminate all barriers to gay men donating blood and are therefore accepting whatever risks there are that some poor recipient downstream could get HIV contaminated blood. It makes for really weird reading as they blend pure ignorance and imbecility with a plea that also explains that they're taking steps to keep everyone safe.

I'll go back to my normal donation cycle when they return to normal and put behind them this ongoing idiocy about a disease so dangerous one has to get tested to know if one has it.

Yeah, they’ll take gay men’s blood but because I lived in Europe i\during the 70’s and i0’s not mine. They tell me it’s because of mad cow disease. Screw ‘em!

What about covid vaccinated blood? Neither my wife nor I wish to receive blood from a covid vaccinated donor. My wife is needing a second hip replacement, but will require blood transfusions if she has the operation. She still hasn't been able to fully rebuild her blood since the first operation over two years ago. Are the blood centers refusing to take blood from those who have received the mRNA shots? Not that I am aware. My wife will just have to keep enduring the pain until the ugly truth rears its head and the so called vaccine shows itself for what it is. Then who is going to perform the surgery if all of the doctors and nurses have been forced to get the jab and are themselves becoming casualties?

When I donated back in April there was a sign up and the forms I filled out said that there were not accepting donations from people who had been vaccinated. Obviously they changed their policy since then but I see from what they sent me that they're being coy about which vaccine they will accept as safe in the national blood supply.

Same here. I worked in the UK briefly in the mid-80's and they've told me that I should not donate.

Do they have the same policy for anyone who traveled to Europe between certain dates? And what are those dates?

If they were smart, they'd segregate their inventory between those who were COVID vaxxed and unvaxxed. If they mix them up, and something down the line shows the vaxxed blood is unsafe ...
