I think it's amusing that whenever I see the Army pull out its artillery at either Fort Myer or the Pentagon, the guns are always aimed at Washington DC. I wonder if any of the dignitaries from Congress who take part in the ceremonies ever observe where the guns are pointed.
it is doubtful the members of congress even know which bathroom to use let alone who is aiming what at them.
ReplyDeleteSome of them do seem a little 'slow'.
DeleteThe Army has a sly sense of humor.
ReplyDeleteI remember a line from Once an Eagle where the LT was telling the CAPT that during his years at West Point the upper classmen made every effort to beat that sense of humor out of him. It's adversity, I find, that builds the best humor.
DeleteAfter a while the dogfaces figure out who the real enemy is. Then we have to tell the sea-going bellhops...
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of....ever been to Fort Myer and watch the army jump through flaming hoops to satisfy congresscritters for all kinds of parades and things? The whole mission of the 3rd Infantry Regiment is like that is what they do. They even have horses! Then you get to watch the Marines do Tattoo and other interesting things like marching and tossing rifles. Meanwhile, the navy sails serenely on alone on a vast and darkened sea without a single congresscritter in a thousand miles. :)
