MORE OF THE STUPIDITY, IT BURNS

It seems a Virginia policeman in Fairfax County detained a driver in an accident for driving without a license and, having determined that he was wanted on a Federal warrant, detained the illegal immigrant at the scene until an officer from Immigration and Customs Enforcement showed up to take him into custody. The powers that be in Fairfax police HQ came up with a way to reward this exceptional officer for his attention to detail and duty.
“This is an unfortunate issue where the officer was confused,” the police chief said, according to the Washington Post. “We have trained on this issue a lot. This is the first time we’ve had a lapse in judgment, and the officer is being punished.”
The officer has been relieved of all law-enforcement duties pending an internal investigation.
“Our police officer violated our longstanding policy and deprived a person of their freedom, which is unacceptable,” Roessler added in a statement.
And here I thought the single and sole purpose of modern police was to deprive citizens of their freedom and lock them up for the pleasure of the courts. I mean it looks like that from here but maybe I have never lived in a place where that isn't what the police do.

"the officer was confused" Hmmm. what was he confused with? the aberrant dumbassery displayed by the leadership? the politicization of the law enforcement office? the illegal and ignorant failure of fairfax's "sanctuary city" feel good policy which puts citizens in jeopardy of injury or death at the hands of illegal alien criminals? perhaps the officer was confused by a command which required the officer to violate not only the oath he took to support and defend ALL laws of the land but to violate his own conscience.
I believe the officer should contact the US Attorneys office soonest.
