JUST NORMAL ROTATION, COMRADE

I would kind of like to see President Trump direct the DoD to rotate our forces in Europe home to the United States and I mean all of our forces in Europe. Just pick up all the gear and missiles and ammo and head back to the United States. It would serve ably as a demonstration of our military sealift capabilities to see them engage in a full blown movement of forces from and to Europe.

I would start by pulling every soldier, sailor, airman and marine and all the gear they have maintained there in readiness for parades or demonstrations or whatever it is NATO does. I don't actually know since I never served there or on a NATO staff of any kind. Naturally we would leave a few Marines to guard our embassies.

We would have to inform all of our dear European allies of the move but reassure them by telling them that we were merely taking the cruddy old worn out stuff home to make room for all the shiny new stuff we are going to send in to replace it at roughly the same time Hell freezes over.

There is no need to hurry since we've all been assured by every single one of our dear NATO allies that they have the power and might and wherewithal to go toe to toe with Putin any day of the week and twice on Sunday and they don't need to hear any backchat from us about the inadvisability or the actual impossibility of that, thank you! I think we can have the withdrawal debacle in full stride by August and most of the forces home by Christmas and then we'll polish it up and send it back in a couple of years or so unless circumstances change and there is no need for us to pretend that the USSR still exists as a threat to Europe.

It will reveal some MASSIVE shortcomings in little things like the complete absence of all that old infrastructure and shipping we used to have lying around capable of moving whole divisions to Europe on 96 hours notice. That will be illuminating.

Do you think the USN of 2025 could manage it?
When I got out in 1992? That Navy could have, and it would have yielded valuable lessons. There would have been failures, most likely a few fatalities, but it could have been done.

I'm all for total withdrawal from Europe.

Make the Euroweenies back up their own BS with their own money and blood.

But your correct, we have destroyed our ability to move such massive troop and equipment even in Peace time environment.

Tiawan needs to get realistic with mainland China. A peaceful adsorption with agreements like Hong Kong is better than by force and unilateral forced agreements.

So how does anybody dream we can do it in the face of Chinese area denial weapons I.E. Drones and Missiles?

So, who's going to pipe up and act like America is still in its powerful 70's era?

We should leave NATO. It no longer aligns with American needs or goals. As for withdrawing from Europe. I doubt we have the capability of doing that quickly, easily or efficiently. We allowed our transport capabilities to atrophy.

Didn't they just turn one of the biggest, fastest troop ships into a reef? Oh, well, guess we can just let the troops find their own way home. Swim, maybe.

how about all those Deep Staters, Swamp Denizens, and CIA Chimps under their guise as "advisors" we have sneaking around on that continent

A worthwhile exercise; we'd learn a lot about what we needed to build, fix, and buy in order to protect OUR sea lanes. Anyone else wants protection for their shipping, they can pay the annual subscription fees.
Join that with a withdrawal from NATO and the UN, and I think we would send a clear message about what our actual place in the world should be. Make Fortress America, and then go upwards into space instead of overseas. That's where the future is anyway.
The Army can quit worrying about the Russians going to Europe and start controlling our own borders from invasion.

I wonder how much of NATO is just USAID fraud?

Cut the money off first. Store the old equipment in place. Move the ground war stuff to the southern border on commercial ships. Stop all new udeploymentsASAP ,

I think a full drawdown of forces is the best play. Label it an exercise. Pack everything that fits in conex boxes, and ship it home commercially. Use our naval vessels to bring the rest home. In stages though so the naval vessels don't run into each other.

It would certainly get their attention.

They haven't done exercise REFORGER (Return of Forces to Germany) since 93. Maybe it's time for a REFORUSA exercise. Just in case we need our forces back home to defend the country they're actually supposed to be defending. I'd put every single piece on the West Coast just as a message to China.

No, sadly, there really isn't much left of it today. Just look at the enormous resources in men and money that was flushed away on Littoral Combat Ships that quite literally cannot do anything at all.

I'm afraid all the feeble minded politicians, 100% of the democrats and 200% of the people like Victoria Nuland think we are what were were in 1991. I don't know if we even rotate equipment out to Fort Irwin for training anymore but somehow I doubt it and I wonder if we still send a Mech Brigade to Bright Star and if so, what it does there every other year.

I think they will have to find their own way home.

Did you see that the Finns were proposing to back out of the Ottowa Convention and start reseeding the minefields they 'used to have' on their frontier with Russia?

In my experience it literally took a pair of Army 4 stars in a row in Korea to convince the Army there that it was their mission and way of life to "be prepared to fight tonight." Prior to BB Bell and his successors I was not convinced that 8th Army could get its hands out of its pockets without a month's notice in writing and confirmed by a thousand telephone calls at every level.

The fun part would be telling the euro counterparts to just replace all of our stuff with stuff they have assigned to EuroCorps and get back to us in a couple of months to let us know if there are any shortfalls in equipment or manpower. I mean we'd only want those to give us something to laugh over after we got home.

Wow can you see putting it into the Presidio, Hunter Liggett and Fort Ord? All the California democrats would explode. It would almost be worth doing it for the laugh. Just send the warning order to prep the old installations to receive the 173rd Airborne and the rest of the NATO forces and all of California would explode in fury and rage.
