LEFT BEHIND

It’s always surprising when vandals and thieves leave behind the most valuable thing in a room but still a surprise when ‘educators’ do it. Just think how much learning follows from simply reading and understanding history.

Libraries never robbed. Work boots never stolen.

People are no longer taught that reading is a skill worth learning. Just ask AI for the information at a 6th grade level. Books are quickly becoming obsolete in our computer driven world. Opinions and "facts" are driven by propaganda, not from knowledge gained by reading books. Fahrenheit 451 was not fiction, only ahead of it's time in the F.U.S.A.

A canticle for Lebowitz comes to mind.

My friend lived next a public school that was scheduled to close. He was interested in salvaging some of the vintage electrical and plumbing fixtures. He got those plus ALL the books in both the library and text storage. "No one wants them." "They're all out of date." "Kids don't read any more." His grand-children have benefited as have the church book sale.

We have an elementary school 4-6 grade being demolished soon right across the street and there is no hint that anyone will be allowed to save anything before it is bulldozed.
