THE DAY THAT LIVES IN INFAMY

Many of them have no idea or actively hate that such men and women exist. One of them just drove by here at 0300 with spotlights on looking for stupid criminals in the neighborhood. Today is a day to think of the people who willingly drank Montrose toast. In the end, they put it all to the test.

People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

But, as you pointed out at your place, Buck, pretty soon all of those of us who remember second-hand from our parents will be gone as well. It's been 73 years since Pearl Harbor? Well, on 7 Dec 1941 the equivalent 73 years prior U.S. Grant was President. Time is a powerful thing..

I still hear from one of my friends in San Diego. He was at Pearl Harbor during the attack. He was three. :) His father was a navigator on the Pan American clippers crossing the Pacific.
There's a lot of people who remember. I spent a couple of weeks living at Ford Island a few years back and the boats carrying visitors to the Arizona Memorial were always full.

You're right. My grandfather served through Normandy and until the end of the War at 12th Army Group Headquarters. Unlike me, he never kept any personal journals of his experiences in the Army from 1932 until he retired 26 years later. I wish he had.
