FADING INTO HISTORY

The East German State recognized their doom when I was born in Nurnberg, Germany. Their feeble attempts to save themselves availed them not. No wall could save them from me.
Sunday marked the anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, erected in 1961 by East Germany’s Communist government to prevent its captive citizenry from fleeing to the West. In 1989 Germans tore down the wall and then the regime. Germany was reunified in 1990 and in the years since its people have not forgotten the horrors of totalitarianism.
If you cock your head just right and look a tiny bit to the right of the light, you can see me and my older sister staring out at you. My parents were in Germany then because our nation and our leaders had committed to defending the West and as a sign of our commitment we had stationed troops all through Germany, prepared to stop the next European invasion. It worked pretty well after I was born and by the time I left the service, the Cold War was over, the USSR was humbled and broken up and things were looking pretty rosey right up until the East Germans elected Angela Merkel and decided that on top of their enormous burden of Turkish-never-Germans they should add a few million ISIS-never=Germans to the mix.

So, we won the Cold War and Germany lost the real war. Isn't that just like Germany?

LAWFARE AND RESISTANCE

I read over at Ace of Spades that there is some concern that NYC is not following the law and complying with ICE detention The NYPD's process of verifying warrants against a defendant involves contacting relevant law enforcement, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, so the agency is alerted to an illegal immigrant's upcoming appearance in a city courtroom, the New York Daily News reported Sunday night.

Today I had also heard from notorious fake news organization, National Public Radio, that there was some real concern that obeying ICE detention requests violated federal law on illegal restraint. I had to double check that myself since NPR lies about or shades everything. In this case, google search turned up nothing but piffle. I had to search using yandex.ru.  How's that? I have to use a Russian search engine to get around google's ridiculous algorithms that make sure only one side of any issue is ever presented in response to any RFI.

The Free Beacon had an interesting article on how NYC police actually play with ICE. It seems fair to me and it doesn't involve locking people up or failing to let them go when a judge orders them released or after they have served their time. It does require ICE to do its actual job, interface with the police officers and SEND agents to detain their suspects immediately, not whenever they get around to it.
The NYPD's process of verifying warrants against a defendant involves contacting relevant law enforcement, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement, so the agency is alerted to an illegal immigrant's upcoming appearance in a city courtroom, the New York Daily News reported Sunday night.
Immigration advocates have accused the NYPD of "colluding" with federal agents and going against de Blasio's vow that New York will remain a sanctuary city during Donald Trump's presidency.
As a sanctuary city, New York City does not fully cooperate with federal authorities to hand over undocumented immigrants in its jurisdiction. Since 2014, the city only complies with ICE orders to detain undocumented individuals until federal agents can take custody if the individual committed a violent or serious crime.
I think it is hilarious that the SJWs are freaking out that the police are not following "policy" as if that was some sort of mandate from heaven that they must obey at peril of their immortal souls. It's certainly funny listening to freaks like that who claim that there is no requirement to obey any law they dislike. Must obey mayor but screw the actual laws of the country they live in. Only liberals...

SOCIALIST WORKERS PARADISE

Socialism appears to bring about sloth, decay, crime and a weakening in the strength of building material. It has many other flaws but one would think the visible accomplishments would force practitioners to consider the inevitable invisible flaws that follow from imposing social justice by fiat on people who can still get up and move away. It isn't like one has to guess what is going to happen next after nobody gets around to paying the workers and peasants.

They all moved away one day and never returned

EUROPE ABLAZE, AGAIN

Having buried Germany up to its waste in gasoline, Führer Angela Merkel asks, "is there nobody who will light a match for Germany?"

UPDATE: 11/13/2015 It looks like they threw the first match into Paris. Sadly, it is just the first from the second box of matches and there are plenty more where that came from. C'est domage. Quelle pitie.

THE TWO TOWERS

It was the 21st century triumph of islam over the West. I'm sure that as they stream into the West as refugees from a religion without mercy that islam's great victory has turned to ashes in their mouths. I won't forget that they cheered and danced in glee when the towers burned and then collapsed.

EXPULSION'S FACE

When you wonder what it might look like if migrants were actually forced out of the various countries into which they have moved over the last decade or so, this might be instructive. If it happened like this in the middle of the 20th century, it can happen tomorrow.

Sudeten Germans make their way to the railway station in Liberec, in former Czechoslovakia, to be transferred to Germany in this July, 1946 photo. After the end of the war, millions of German nationals and ethnic Germans were forcibly expelled from both territory Germany had annexed, and formerly German lands that were transferred to Poland and the Soviet Union. The estimated numbers of Germans involved ranges from 12 to 14 million, with a further estimate of between 500,000 and 2 million dying during the expulsion.
