TASTE THE UNREALITY

This is from Instapundit today and as you can see there is something wrong, very wrong with it.

Just what kind of idiots think that someone, somewhere on Earth was tracking carbon dioxide worldwide in 1800? The delusional people will believe in anything because that is their nature but the rest of us need to point out when the idiots have run amok again with their fake science nonsense.

Lies, damn lies and statistics. Business as usual.

Actually, we have pretty good data on CO2 levels going quite far back. Ice cores from Greenland's glaciers (the GRIP project) contain not just annual thickness layers, but bubbles of atmosphere from the time. You can totally analyze CO2 levels over time that way.

You also get measures of lead which is how historians reconstruct economic activity from ancient Rome. More lead, more industrial production.

Also, economists have pretty good country-by-country breakdowns of production of coal, etc back into the 18th century. This will let you calculate how much CO2 each country was producing.

All very good points but the most telling one of course is that nobody at all was using fossil fuels until we started pumping oil out of the ground in the middle of the 19th century.

Asphaltum and other petroleum seeps out of the ground naturally. Certainly that is limited to a few geographic location, i.e. not wide spread.
But if a researcher were to use such location in their data, the analysis would've altered
