It's an impressive rejection of the transient nature of the works of man. When the concrete falls out of the walk, all of it must be considered unable to support a load. When the metal corrodes unpreserved for decades in that environment it will fracture and break without warning. Who was it who posited that when all the snow in the mountains melt people of the time will have fun watching the final moments of all those intrepid Go/Pro losers who put it all to the test, failed and died while skiing, jumping, snowboarding, snowmobiling, wing suit flying, climbing and falling.
