As one observes the world today it is possible, remotely possible, that there are some out there who are beginning to think that the only chance they have of living free of the dictators that rule the world is to develop and test their own atomic weaponry. The need for any sort of fancy ballistic delivery system is obviated in the world of "just call DHL" to move it but the act of gathering fissionables is sometimes a little less covert and obvious than one could wish.
There's a whole other school of thought that simply poo-poohs that idea and suggests that a pair of countries now under damned near universal embargoes from the rulers of the world may find some measure of economic trade and wealth by serving as purveyors of the finest kind atomic and thermo-nuclear weaponry.
Do you suppose that there are some people out there that would be shocked if Pakistan or France sold off a few of their surplus nukes? I'm sure that they think that there is some sort of law against that sort of thing. That's how they always think.

Nukes seem the only way to keep America's "Law based Order" from deciding what government and sociality you might have.
Iran had the ability GIVEN to them in SNIP Iran's first nuclear reactor was established in 1967 when the United States delivered a research reactor along with highly enriched uranium to the Tehran Nuclear Research Center (TNRC).
ODD how a "terrorist" nation avoided using a dirty bomb for what 58 years? Really not a technical issue, explosives and left over reactor trash. City so treated nobody lives in for decades or longer.

IRAN is in a water critical situation. That big beautiful fleet has MASSIVE water desalination capacity that HAS BEEN USED BEFORE for Humanitarian Efforts.

WOW. I suspect it would cost us almost NOTHING but fuel for the ships instead of billions in weapons to please our "Bestest ALLY EVAR" destroying their "enemies".
