I knew a couple of good lieutenant commanders that turned down offers of command. They considered the risk to be way outside the gain. I thought were wrong but I only worked with 20 or 30 of their peers. In my time in, the bios of many admirals featured LCDR command. That was back when the was trying a little bit to push command down. I was there at the end at the end of the end. Navy stopped doing that a while ago.

Look at some of the people that have made O-6, and ruined their commands. The USN may be doomed.There does not seem to be a warrior ethic anymore.
How many are wearing pink underwear and garter belts.
