ON SOCIALISM

It is still staggering to me that food rationing didn't end in England until 1954. That's just how worthless the leadership of their country and Europe were. I think one of them said it best.
This island is made mainly of coal and surrounded by fish. Only an organizing genius could produce a shortage of coal and fish at the same time.
Aneurin Bevan
I blogged about this once already but I'm always willing to do it again.

google is doing it again and just changing history

The link will take one to google where they are playing a very open game of hiding history by removing it.

One of those things I didn't learn about until recently. Europe at the end of the last war was looking at starvation and death. Not some of it. All of it.

The rationing lasting until 1954 has always baffled me. With the cod banks having been left alone during the War, the fishing boats found that they could " walk on the cod " schools. Yet, England was under rationing. There had to have been some amazing levels of incompetence.

They had the grain fields of Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan to call on, with Deere, Allis, Case, IH, and Minnie Mo, ready to sell the tractors and combines they had developed during the war, but they had rationing for 9 years. Socialism served them so well.

I don't really understand it but I suspect it had to do with control. With rationing the bureaucrats remained in control long after the people should have resumed contrrol of government. I think the bureaucrats continued to think that the government had to "pay to import" food and failed to realize that market forces would have set the prices that allowed for import of just about anything people were willing to pay for. Their deep state did lasting damage until Thatcher collapsed the whole socialist scheme and returned the power to the people until that idiot May let her Parliament ride her like a pony over Brexit.
