I get a kick out of this because it shows the thinking of a man who thinks that geopolmil is like chess and one can lay out the moves 10 or 12 moves in advance. OTGH, I don't see anything wrong with what is put forward below and I get a real kick out of all the absolute idiots who are convinced that Donald Trump is not a smart man. Read the entire thing. It's gold.
3 weeks ago I argued the US goal in Iran is to seize the global oil spigot. Venezuela in January -> Iran in February.

Neutralize every supply channel outside the dollar system within 90 days. Achieve a compliant successor government and complete energy dominance.

As long as the political players think processes from the past will continue working into the future, then Trump can continue with long term plans. Will the waffling weenies wake up? Not mentioned in the link is the number Trump did on London's banks.

Plausible. But as we know the best laid plans...yada yada. Nobody can see ALL of the future or plan for it. But yes....Trump is much smarter than most, especially the left, gives him credit for. And I doubt he's alone in these plans to manipulate things. We do live in interesting times.
I'd wait 2 more weeks and see. By then the real pain of not agreeing with Iran's non-combatant status and pay a toll in YUAN will be evident as more countries see themselves with near empty fuel systems and farmers screaming about lack of fertilizer.
Frankly the toll was designed to be almost minor compared to the value of the trade being done. In America, we'd call it the price of doing business. Maybe Iranians have some sort of crude market sense?
In about 2 weeks they must act or know serious food shortages will be coming in the fall. Fertilizer applied after planting isn't nearly as effective as doing it properly and crop yields will be low.
If this grand plan works, in theory America "Wins" (actually Russia and China will also be in decent shape) but still has no real manufacturing capacity. The parts of the world that DOES have Manufacturing capability will have starving people, food riots (Remember Arab Spring) and not likely to be providing America imports, nor factory tooling.
I doubt that Russia nor China would be stupid enough to sell stuff that would rearm America. That should include factory building.
The damage done will take years to restore oil production and a lot of hunger and the wars that generate will be in play. Not to mention the hunger rioting that will be impeding manufacturing the oil tooling to repair it.
Bold move Cotton.
Grim Smile, maybe Crusader Pete's prayer of "lighting the signal fires for Jesus's return" might just come true.
