There has been another sea change in the way that international confrontations begin and end these days and one almost hopes the bozos are too stupid to realize it. On the gripping hand, some people can learn and so for what it's worth it might be time to point out once again that there is a player that believes that the only path to victory in conflict is to root out and kill the leadership of the enemy and they do that pretty ruthlessly.
Let's just note that the Losing Side has been trying really hard to kill President Trump because they understand the simple and obvious fact that escapes 90% of the people; President Trump is the leader of this country and if anything happened to him it would quickly devolve into a rabid flock of Karens trying to kill each other with celery and nothing would ever get done again on the world stage. Almost everyone knows this.
The President Trump view of the world now pretty much confines itself to eliminating problems and as we can see with the late ruler of Iran, these things can be done in an instant.
If I was John Roberts, Zelensky, anybody in China and anybody in South or Central America I would make note of this Presidential failing. I would probably amend my behavior so I did not come to President Trump's negative attention. Maduro was showing off that 'we' could come for you and take you away, nobody the wiser and your guards lying dead behind you or we could do it the Ayatollah way. Either one works and both ways get the same effect.
What I wonder though is how many of those twits in Europe think that they have immunity? Their level of self-destruction in Europe is now reaching the levels once only achieved when they began turning on each other and clawing each other to death in Flanders. Srsly, blowing up your own energy pipelines, destroying your own nuclear power stations, loaning trillions to Zelensky and the Ukrainian mob that everybody knows will never be repaid, sending all your few remaining working weapons to Ukraine to fight Russians only to have the Ukrainians snootily return some of them telling you they are junk and don't work.....
I don't know. Sometimes when an enemy is killing his own stupid self the best thing to do is to stand aside. It's not terribly Christian but then neither is Europe and they are, after all, doing it to themselves.
It is time to sever ourselves from NATO.

Europe's current path of self destruction is exactly what lies ahead when Trump's out of office. Americans have already proven that fact by electing people like Zohran Mamdani. His win, supported by hard-left liberals like AOC, Gavin Newsom, Bernie Sanders, and Katie Wilson proves there's still a very high potential shift towards extremely left democratic socialist leadership.
When Trump is no longer the President and his team is gone, Democrats like those we witnessed in Trumps recent State of the Union speech will return to power and unleash a vengeance on American conservatives that will make Stalin blush.
Trump is a flashlight exposing the cockroaches we know about. And just like cockroaches, there are thousands of these people are still entrenched in local, state and federal politics, in our courts, the media, schools, businesses and our neighborhoods all just wafting for the flashlight to be turned off.
I don’t see any reason to let them vote again. They’ve proven over and over that they’re no good at it. I figure we should take over a couple of Canadian provinces, build the reeducation camps liberals are all so fond of in them, round up the bad guys, toss ‘em in the camps and when the inevitable victory rolls around in its slow inimitable way, we’ll blame the camps on Canada, invade the rest of it and provide our supporters with really nice ranches and town homes up there in our new State. You know, a counter-balance to the inferno we know as Texas.

The thing about comparisons to Rome is that there were centuries long interludes when it wasn't so bad and was still good but that was all set aside when they made everybody a Roman. What we are trapped in is a system of popular government that DEMANDS an enemy to focus the people's ire on. Historically that was the Huns in all their manifestations but we seem to have opted to make it the Chinese and the Euroweenies are intent on making it the Russians and I don't think either of us knows what that means. Europe cannot defeat the Russians and we cannot defeat the Chinese so we will do what we do to make life maximally unpleasant for both until they snap and they will. You can count on it.
Right now if Russia started sending 100 killer drones a day after the leadership targets in the EU and the satraps what would Europe do differently? As I said, it is time to sever our NATO deal. We don't want to play in that sandbox anymore because they've all gone crazy.

This is my take:
BW set the $ as the World Reserve Currency and in reality it was pegged to nothing. The upshot was it became the de facto currency almost everywhere in the Free World.
You think it was mismanaged but what if I told you that it was deliberately and by design inflated to Hell and gone in order to devalue it without actually doing what every other currency in the world could do, devalue. This was DELIBERATE policy and it was ruthlessly applied to a government that had a spending problem it simply could not control or stop.
If you look at history the clipping and tarnishing and washing all happened when the government ran out of money. That simply "never happened" in the United States because we would just print more and create trillions out of thin air without even bothering to print it.
It was under control to some extent right up until Reagan. After that it was all downhill and very rapidly indeed.
OPEC raised the price of a vital commodity to unheard of levels and then banked it in sovereign investment funds and the royal families. The money was for a time out of circulation and then it roared back into circulation but about then the other enemies of the US found that they could print better $ than we could and so flooded the world with counterfeit $100 and $20 everywhere. Trillions and trillions of $ that we never made.
Now the silly people are looking for investments that cannot be fiated away by Executive Order, Acts in Council, The Star Chamber, the local franchise board or any other age old method of taking away the people's money/value and giving them nothing back.
As you say, the wheels are coming off. The hubris is thinking there is anything that can be done about it. Hard times. They come when they're needed and the need is getting pressing.
People can see that the government has so little concern for trillions being stolen that they don't even bother to investigate, let alone prosecute the thieves. There is really only one way that ends.
It does make you wonder, how much ammo and how many guns do those idiots in the gated communities have when the hard times come for them? They are liberal bastions now and we all know how they feel about icky guns and ammo.
On that note, I know a guy who finally broke down and bought an AR-15 a couple of years ago. He keeps it behind the water heater in his basement. I don't think he's ever fired it and I'd be surprised if he has more than one magazine for it. Like the savages of old, they think the magic is in the gun and have no idea what it takes to keep it working.
Sigh, I have to agree with you. Maybe that 4th Turning stuff is accurate enough.
