So there you are sitting on the broken airport tarmac on a timeless island in the great big Caribbean Sea and finally, 60 years of socialism under the Castros and their lickspittles is about to end with the arrival of a whole team of experts from the United States who are going to straighten out the fiscal, financial and ruined economy that socialism always leaves in its wake....
and Governor Hochul, Mayor Mamdami, Paul Bremer and former vice president Kamala Harris get off the plane leading a team of advisors from the Harvard Faculty Lounge.
Can you appreciate the sheer irony of your situation?

Sounds like justice for the libtards and a fresh dose of hell for the Cubanos.
It worked great for the Russian oligarchs who later took Putin's deal rather than fall out the basement window. Worked great for all those elite advisors too
If it wasn't for the poor Cubans that will actually do the suffering, the idea of the American Left riding to the rescue would be quite amusing.
marxism is the plague and communism(=socialism) is simple thugly theft and every other gubbermint scam that only last until they run out of other peoples money to make themselves rich on your back.
Exactly, there’s nothing left to steal.
Nothing left to steal. Semi-true.
A tiny bit of proven oil reserves:
Cuba has 124 million barrels of proven oil reserves, producing about 30,500 barrels per day while consuming roughly 112,000 barrels per day.
Proven Reserves
Cuba’s proven oil reserves are estimated at 124 million barrels as of 2025, ranking it 67th globally and representing about 0.007% of the world’s total oil reserves (1.77 trillion barrels). These reserves are roughly three times the country’s annual consumption, meaning that without imports, Cuba could sustain its current consumption for about three years.
Not worth the squeeze.
But large mines of cobalt and nickel. Currently exported to Canada. Funny. Not funny we import Cuban cobalt and Nickle from Canada so maybe getting the middleman is worth it. Assuming the "Usual Grift" doesn't eat that advantage.
Decent aquaculture scenario to replace the farmed seafoods we currently import for Asia. I suspect the usual grift folks will be fighting against US certification as not to have their Asian donors cut off.
So, in follow the money-resources grabbing some value aside from Monroe Doctrine and keeping Russia out of "Our Pond".
Side effects of figuring out how to limit the "refugees" as some portion of the 10 million living there will try to become welfare rats here.
Why do I say that? The ones with the git up and GO to build crude rafts and thus become successful businessmen here already left. We're dealing with mostly those that just struggled and stayed.
The ones that somehow managed to keep small businesses going there Most will hope to expand their businesses and stay.
The low motivation, just survive day by day will see America as a great place to get welfare from. Like we need more Gimmie Dats.
All we need is a few years of importing machinery and such to establish a decent supply chain in metals, maybe seafoods. Why importing machinery? Cuban mines are ramshackle old Soviet stuff and need replacements. That and America has outsourced the heavy machinery segment of Caterpillar.
Took some digging:
SNIP Which Cat machines are manufactured in the U.S.?
As one of the top exporters in the U.S., Caterpillar produces equipment for customers worldwide. Several American facilities specialize in manufacturing specific products for global distribution, including:
East Peoria, Illinois: Large track-type tractors
Decatur, Illinois: Large mining trucks
North Little Rock, Arkansas: Large motor graders
San Diego, California: Gas turbines
Athens, Georgia: Smallest track-type tractors
Every mention of actual mining equipment (ore crushers, separators and all that) are built outside America, mostly in China.
Time, money and investing in machinery that seems mostly made in China as we too Germany offline.
Pity there's no Tungsten in Cuba as China just cut us off:
https://appalachianrenegade.com/2026/03/21/tungsten/
We stopped Tungsten mining and sold off equipment, lost trained workers around in 2015. About 2025 we decided to start building up supplies but like the Strategic Oil Reserve we really didn't.
I wonder if the rare earths and tungsten trade will be in Rubles or Yuan as they are the big boys in this party.
