You just know that if the idiots behind the global warming scam got really clever one day they would convince the world's dolts that global warming is really due to the moon getting too close to the earth and we need to spend every penny you have to reshape the moon's orbit and make it orbit 15 feet further away. The science is proven!

Except that anyone who has taken a basic Astronomy course knows that the Moon is already slowly receding from the Earth at about 1.5 inches per year.
That would be the point. SCIENCE!!!
This could actually get to be fun. Tide power is supposedly renewable. Actually though, it contributes to this effect (only by a tiny amount, of course) and furthermore contributes to the equal and opposite reaction of slowing the earth's rotation.
Tide power advocates are trying to stop the earth turning! And push the moon out of its orbit! Are they mad?? What about the mayflies???!!!
No matter how ludicrous a theory might be there's always a group of morons out there who will buy in to it.
As I recall, Scott Adams figures that about 20% of the people will ALWAYS do the Stupid. It literally does not matter what stupid thing it is, 20% will go for it.
