Gerard Vanderleun was the author of American Digest and sadly he stepped into the clearing at the end of the path last night. He thought long and deeply about many things and then wrote about them brilliantly. Yes, I remember when he published this and I wrote to ask his permission to re-post it. All he asked for was a link in the post. Wonderful, hopeful, a love note about America.
