ODDLY ENOUGH

When one thinks about it, some people have been dodging the whole african american is black thing for generations.... Yep, that's right. The USN trumped them all when it chose for its very SS looking uniforms, navy blue. See what they did there? Yep, another horse of a different dark bay color.

The Johnny Cash was always my favorite uniform when I was in.

Navy kept the khaki which I was always amazed by. hard to keep clean near machinery. USAF got rid of them long ago. Not into permanent press, I guess.
having a six year old daughter of a Navy Commander lean over her seat and barf on me in my winter wool blue air force suit in the middle of the pacific on an arrow air flight in a stretch 8, was a true thrill. Want to know how to get 225 young Marines to barf like dominoes falling? Ruined the uniform, not even an "excuse me" from up front. But, they were all going to barf anyway from the dutch roll. Douglas built touchy yaw dampers...

Ya know what you know now. Traveling with the little girl we always had a spare wonsy and other minor clothes. Now of course, when she at 4 months old barfs all over dad on the airplane four hours from landing did I have a spare? No, of course not.

mind you, speaking as a former commander,"how do you know he's a commander?"

"Well, he aint covered in shit is he."

As my boss explained to a fairly young LT, me by the way, as he gave me the oak leaves off his collar, "LTJG, LT, LCDR, they're all just LTs."
He'd been one for a very long time since he was one of the last spot promoted destroyer engineers and then picked it up in the almost normal, for him, course of getting promoted. I think he was a LCDR for about 13 years. He was one of the few I know that went to Commodore's Mast. Finished as an 06 with 4 or 6 ship commands including cruisers. Might be famous for raking another USN ship with a CIWS in air auto during the first gulf war people know about.
