This is a little confounding since I thought he and his advisors knew better than this. This is the opening salvo in an economic war that could very easily lead to regime change which is another word for war.
If the intent on both sides was to insist that the other side focus a little more on maintaining the current Armistice, this could be seen in no other light than that one side (China) is being pushed to the wall over Trade and, much like Japan in 1940, sees no option but to push back very forcefully because to do anything else will see the fall of Xi and grave damage to China.I know why China is tripling the number of nuclear weapons they have in their arsenal and potentially doubling or tripling that in a year. If you think about it, you would know too. China is not anything like the USSR or Russia. It holds just two clubs and nothing else. It was the world's storehouse of manufactured goods and it has weapons of mass destruction. It does not have the best military or anything like it and it has no organic markets to make up for the loss or reduction of its international markets and it has very few resources to provide for its own economic engine.
The vast fishing fleets hoovering up the world's fish are an essential component of Chinese food production and will be for some time. They represent just another incredibly weak link that sustains China that is vulnerable to outside action.
Given the nature of President Trump and some of his advisors, the next step will be one that he will probably be more than willing to take and it will hurt here almost as much as it hurts China. He will simply tell all the Chinese to leave and to not come back. That is going to roll back his second greatest enemy (after the institutional media) and leave the Universities minus roughly 60% of their current student revenue.
You know the absolutely worst thing about doing that? Yeah, it would almost certainly be good for America. Democrats hate that.

I do hope Trumps advisers don't get the foolish idea we can treat China's fishing fleet like Venezuela's alleged narco-boats.
A direct threat to their food supply, not going to be allowed.
China might not "shoot back" per say but I bet our power grid, banking system and maybe EBT cards are going to get crazy-inoperative with all cyber "fingerprints" (what a load of crock there) being Russian or something.
China's "unofficial" spokesperson already told us that in the X message about the rare earths and such shut off Nov 8th.
Ever wonder why they gave us so much time before DOING IT?
Maybe they are hoping for some diplomacy and real-world trade concessions.
I suspect they know from watching the Russia-Trump Ukraine situation that logical diplomacy is a forlorn hope.
No reason to bomb the chinah fishing boats. Just confiscate them and send the crews home. As long as they are in our waters. If not in our waters, they are not our business.
As for chinah's latest tariff thing, fk em.
They are crumbling already, if they lash out, so be it.
If they lash out at us, kiss peace goodbye.
This is where the whole 5th generation warfare idea has gone global. It is an outfall, I think, of the old dictum to starve your enemy. As with a siege one can starve an entire populace by destroying their food supplies, or cripple them by destroying the critical nodes of electrical generation/transmission or simply by sabotaging the critical transportation nodes, such as by dropping bridges over the Mississippi. All the myriad ways of crippling a massive opponent without ever engaging his field armies, battle fleet or air force. I think this whole toolbox and rule set falls naturally into the tools of strategic special ops. We don't do it or practice it at all but I suspect that China and Russia are striving mightily to get there. It's a pity that China saddled itself with some truly destructive infrastructure costs but then, that is the nature of China itself. I loved the article I read on how the empire of China came about because they built a hydraulic empire and then found they needed something to govern it.
They have pulled away the strategic mineral underpinnings of our and other advanced technological empires. Without the strategic minerals they now refuse to export a lot of our industries will crash and burn and they haven't even gone after the easy stuff like transformers.
they haven't even gone after the easy stuff like transformers.
EXACTLY, they are the manufacturers of most of our Power Grid.
We don't make transformers. I have neighbors who are linemen and when a major storm destroys a lot of the grid they go along with other unaffected states to fix them BRINGING their SPARE Transformers with them. Back home we order replacements for the spares sent. The smaller units are standard enough we get them from China in a week or so. The medium and large ones are custom built and can take months.
So YEAH, lets mess with China's food supply.
WHAT Could Ever GO Wrong with that.
I've been told to be positive so at least the internet will be gone, and bravado comments will go away as folks starve and suffer from no safe water nor sewage treatments.
Time to stock up on toilet paper.
Tom
Think people. Think. The Chinese have infiltrated the US civilian, government and military establishments for decades with students, technicians, scientists and even military service personnel.
"A former U.S. Navy sailor named Jinchao Wei was convicted in August 2025 for selling U.S. Navy secrets to a Chinese intelligence officer."
The Chinese are not stupid enough to launch a military campaign against the US. But they can and will attack the US through our networks, utilities and communications systems. You can bet they've backdoored billions of IC components which are sitting inside millions of electronic devices used by both civil and military hardware components.
And how did this happen? Because our Government thought it would be a great idea to off-shore IC manufacturing to plants in China while fat-cat industrial military complex contractors and their political lackies grow richer by the day.
All the military hardware is for show. China only need flip the switch and US infrastructure comes to a grinding halt.
"if we don't appease them, they can do this horrible thing"
That is not the way to win.
Charlie I am grateful for the belly laugh.
I'm sure you forgot the sarc tag here.
A few inconvenient facts. I'd be happy if you can post links if I am incorrect.
We are BROKE. We've offshored most of our manufacturing. Our "schools" produce mostly illiterate supporters of whatever their peers and teachers SAY is the "Current Thing". Like in BAAAAHHH Sheeple with dangerous ability to shoot "Nazis" upon command. Work Ethic? LOL. And so on.
Did you forget Afghanistan? Did you forget the Navy Hothi "Games" X2 current score Navy 0 Hothi's 2. NOT EXACTLY Fine "Work" militarily.
SO what pray tell do you think America has any "Cards" to play here?
Smiling. Most toilet paper is domestic with a fair bit from Canada and Mexico (But HEY! I hear we've annoying them also).
Now some 80% of our drugs a bit more % of our medical supplies (like sponges, syringes, needles and so on) come from China. My hospital got a reminder of that during COVID when we ordered MORE for supply disruptions.
And a lot of the parts for "Made in America" comes from China.
I hope you're not on any serious prescription drugs as that 90 day supply might be hard to get reordered IF China gets serious.
From Zerohedge the TACO has already folded.
