A DISTANT HOPE

I hope that the rulers in Iran can go down to defeat without using any of the atomic weapons they’ve made over the years. The cat will then, well and truly be out of the bag. Cities won’t survive the sudden realization that we’re back in the time of city annihilators.

You mean Iran should not use the "Sampson Option"?

Wikipedia SNIP
In the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Arab forces were overwhelming Israeli forces and Prime Minister Golda Meir authorized a nuclear alert and ordered 13 atomic bombs be readied for use by missiles and aircraft. The Israeli Ambassador informed President Nixon that "very serious conclusions" may occur if the United States did not airlift supplies. Nixon complied. This is seen by some commentators on the subject as the first threat of the use of the Samson Option.[26][27][28][29][30]

Iran doesn't have the bomb, but Israel has many of them. - @joely

What worries me is that the crazy eye-ah-toldya just may nuke himself to usher in the appearance of the Mahdi. He's old and doesn't have much longer on this earth and you know they don't believe in the sanctity of life (as shown by the suicide bombers and WTC plane pilots).

Those 3 airliners did a great job on 4 towers.

I wondered about the constant endless belittling of the Persian engineers working on their atomic weapon and got to thinking about it a little more and decided that if I was the man in charge of the program I would spin off a second program that got the lion's share of the funding, brainy loudmouths and a Top Secret PR team. The real core team did all the science and engineering to build a bomb sometime in 1988 as they were winding down the war with Saddam and then retired to their villas in France. All the nonsense about enrichment and centrifuges and obfuscation of atomic stuff for US and IAEC inspectors was run by the hardworking dunderheads of the 2nd Team who never stopped trying to engineer and develop a bomb.

The actual atomic weapons were loaded onto submarines in Jask and Bandar Abbas and removed to Top Secret underwater facilities just offshore of Greater Tunb Island. A second set of atomic weapons was parked in the Caspian on an old drill rig.

The world amuses itself chasing the phantoms being worked on by the idiots and the real work was all done and finished decades ago.

Tehran may have a warhead or two, perhaps not. But if you remember our first functional warhead was enormous and weighed tons. It took years to get warheads small enough to put on a missile. Iran is dealing with the same issues. But it's only a matter of time before they succeed in getting what they need to destroy Israel. After that....the rest of the world will be scheduled for destruction. They are Islamic...they MUST conquer or kill every else. They have no choice.

There are 4000 Pakistani weaponeers that fixed all those issues decades ago. Iran has oil and money:Pakistan has poverty and nukes +massive flooding. I don’t think modern weapon makers are starting from scratch because the designs are out there and the fiddle bits are available on the blackest of black markets. You should see the Saudi arsenal.

Assumes the Paki's are willing to aid Iran. Maybe yes. Maybe no. And while Pakistan supposedly has nukes there's no evidence they have ever real world tested them so they are a theoretical weapon till they KNOW they function. The theory behind nukes is simple, the actual engineering very complicated.

I have to admit I have reached the age where I see most politics/international relations as 'theater' where much of what appears to be happening is in fact simply the flow of events that would happen in order to make the correct thing happen. As you say, Nixon needed the political cover that responding to a dire warning of immediate nuclear war outbreak in the Middle East offered so that he could kick Congress and the bloody Army and Air Force into moving massive amounts of war material out of the reserve in Europe and sending it to Israel. Obviously Meir knew that this needed to play out that way and that the steps had to be taken. Whether or not they would have executed is a mystery to me. I never read her memoirs because I wasn't convinced that the Truth would see the light of day for at least 100 years after the events. Just look at the many revisions to Essence of Decision; the Cuban Missile Crisis and expostulations and books written at the time. The facts trickle out so slowly and are then subject to wear and tear as people use them to deconstruct previous historians and the history.

I think money can pay for anything. Just look at that idiot Bill Gates and the British government talking about blacking out the sky forever to slow down the manmade myth of man made global warming. I don't think anyone in Pakistan acts out of friendship, they do it for the money. They are some of the most mercenary people on the planet. WRT the bomb, you kind of bought the myth hook line and sinker. Implosion looks hard but the alternative is pretty straight forward. 110% of the heavy lifting was done 60 years ago. Anyone can build a bomb now. The hard part has always been getting the fissile material. Guess what? I think there are those that would sell that to the mullahs in a hot minute.
