With the military giants we have running things in the Pentagon can we just make some fundamental assumptions about our coming war with Russia? As the readers know I think everyone who is not a member of the military or former member of the military believes somehow that despite not paying anywhere near enough to sustain such a thing, every red blooded American liberal just knows that we have military bases and ammo stocks all over the place and so stuffed to bursting they just naturally ooze bullets and avgas into the surrounding environment. We know this isn't so but they don't and I suspect even their twits in Congress think that they are sitting on a robust Army/Navy/Air Force of millions of men thirsting for blood manning the finest killing machines ever forwarded for battle.
As the tide turns and the garbage military leaders we have now are replaced by a suddenly more truthful, honest, forthcoming and better looking bunch, do you suspect that the truth will slowly leach out of the Pentagon? Yeah me neither.
Where do you think all of that artillery and artillery ammunition came from that we shipped to Ukraine? Yes I know some of you really do think that it was shipped from the Arsenal of Democracy which is somewhere down the road in Kansas or Alabama but I suspect that it was shipped from the war reserve stocks of such things that we used to have so much of in Germany. It was shipped with the predicate that it would, of course, be replaced immediately. You know that never happened. In fact boffins that care can look deep into the Budget and see the line item for replacing all those 155mm rounds and the HIMARS and even the blank spot where the ATACMS replacements are not listed.
Well I hear people wonder, if there is no enormous force backed up with megatons of arms and ammo how are we ever going to get the Russians to leave Ukraine? Wait for it,......
I think if we ask them politely to stop fighting they could be persuaded to call it a day and stop fighting without us putting so much as one of her feet on the ground in Ukraine.
It was a war that didn't need to happen and which should not have happened and for which the people who enabled it and funded it long after the point where it would have ended without their interference will never suffer enough for their crimes and for killing and maiming a million men and destroying industrialized Ukraine for nothing. In a just world there would be war crimes trials for the people that made this war happen and continued it long beyond the point where it had any meaning.

I don't think Russia is the threat some believe it isl. They hav always overstated their capabilities and when needed fell short. The adventure in Ukraine has drained what capacity they may have had. Without their nukes they are essentially harmless beyond Europe. It's China that is the real risk we face. They are untested but their forces are intact. And their armed forces AND economy are large enough to wage an extended conflict. Russia's is not.
If we're lucky, Dan is right. A certain German leader thought the same thing up until he tried to take the Caucasus oil fields.
I will agree that China is much the greater threat.

If I were Russia, I would insist that the American "diplomat" Victoria Nuland and her crony CIA and State Department color revolutionists would be put on trial in the International Court of Justice, as part of any peace negotiations. Get to the root of the problem.
