AN AUTOMOTIVE MYSTERY

I came across this on the way to University Circle at MetroParkCentralis yesterday. I cannot for the life of me imagine how the one on the left ended upside down. It and the car next to it were the only ones with damage in the intersection.

One on roof appears to be an SUV Jeep style beastie. As such, not great on bends or where fast changes of direction are involved (I own one), hence a high probability that the driver mounted the curb/ had a minor shunt/ tried a desperate change of direction.

Yep it looked ridiculous. I sat there waiting for the light to change, took the picture and wondered how it could be in that particular spot upside down, bow pointed downhill between the curb and a car in the right hand lane and still have trouble visualizing the accident.
It couldn't have come from my position. I can't see how it could have been coming from the right and hooked itself upside down where it is and it coudn't have been coming from frame left and hooked itself like that. It's the darndest thing.

There is nary a skid mark and the center of gravity on that thing must be 6 feet AGL. I'm going to ask the campus cops because it looks gravity defying.
