CUBA LIBRE

Michael Totten, a real journalist, went to Cuba this Spring and wrote about it here.

Good luck Cuba! Good luck American tourists!

I loved the usual NPR commentators who exulted about all the trade we could do with Cuba once we end the sanctions. I was hard put to figure out how Cuba was going to pay for anything we might ship there and what, if anything they had that they could afford to ship here. Frankly, I don't see any sort of robust trade in our future. It will be more along the lines of the anemic trade we currently have with Argentina, Haiti, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

Contrast his experience in Cuba with his recent experience in Vietnam.
