Finished with Gladiator tonight. Ends with a 'good' man dying and envisioning 'home'. I'm not sure home meant all that much to the 99.8% of the time whose home was nothing but a dismal hovel. There must be something better.
Enter the damned Catholic Church. Suffer in this world for Glory in the next. Render unto the Church that you may hope to enter heaven. Oh, and then let us bring 1100 years of total war, heresy, the inquisition, the crusades, the Albigensian heresy, the 100 years war, the 30 years war. I could go on.
